One of the ironies of the NFL, I guess. It's a shame he can't set up a job for next year now though.

Interesting! I don't think I've ever heard him speak. You've been spared his horrible auto insurance commercials. The one thing I don't get about these is "Aaron Rodgers made a really bad choice for his professional NFL agent, therefore it makes sense you should trust his choice of insurance company to be really good..." Huh?

The Bears held their post-season press conference today.
No sackings. Team President Ted Phillips, General Manager Ryan Pace and Head Coach Matt Nagy will all be back next season.
Mitchell Trubisky is TBA. His contract expired the moment the final whistle blew to end last Sunday's game against New Orleans. He is officially a free agent.
Draft experts believe Alabama QB Mac Jones - who threw for 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns (including 5 in the championship game) and only 4 interceptions - should be available when the Bears draft at #20 of the first round.
But would Pace be so bold as to draft another first round QB after failing so miserably with his drafting of Trubisky at #2 while leaving Patrick Mahomes and DeShaun Watson on the board in 2017?

What other QBs will be available? Do you mean rookies in the draft? There are a number of quality veteran free agent QBs who will be on the market but the Bears wont be able to afford them. The Bears are already going to be tight for the salary cap and its going to be even lower in 2021 than it was in 2020 because of COVID-19 losses due to empty stadiums. If the Bears DO decide to move forward with Nick Foles at starter and not draft a rookie QB, they would have bring in a low rent veteran clipboard holder like Chase Daniel as the backup (blech). They would not even be able to re-sign Mitchell Trubisky because as a free agent former #2 pick in the draft some team is going to make him a pretty handsome offer. In terms a rookie who they could sign to a 5 year rookie contract and use Foles as a mentor, the top 10 QBs are 1. Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) 2. Justin Fields (Ohio State) 3. Zach Wilson (Brigham Young) 4. Trey Lance (North Dakota State) 5. Kyle Trask (Florida) 6. Mac Jones (Alabama) 7. Jamie Newman (Georgia) 8. Shane Buechele (Southern Methodist) 9. Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati) 10. Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh) Trevor Lawrence will of course go #1 to the Jags. After that, its a pretty mixed bag. If the top 5 go in the first round then Mac Jones WILL be available at the end of the first round, even into the 2nd round. Most pundits expect the Bears to be conservative and use their first and 2nd round picks on safer bets like a stud offensive lineman, a speedy deep threat wide receiver, another tight end (ugh, please no). And see the Bears looking to the 3rd or 4th round to take a chance on a QB like Kellen Mond from Texas Tech. Mond was a 3 year starter at Texas Tech and played extensively his freshman year as well. So he has plenty of experience. Mac Jones had a GREAT season but he was a 1 year starter as he played back up to Tua the previous 2 seasons.

Its being rumoured that storied college coach Urban Meyer is going to be hired as Head Coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
During his illustrious college coaching career Meyer was Head Coach for Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State.
His career coaching record is 187-32 including 12-3 in Bowl Games.
He won 3 National Championships (2006 and 2008 with Florida and 2014 with Ohio State) and 17 conference or division titles.
Its interesting as the Jags probably will want him to bring a college type of coaching style to the Jags which would make the easiest transition for Trevor Lawrence to start from day 1.

Hmm... We definitely do need a good offensive linesman. Our line has been shaky for a while. And if we do draft a QB from college, he will need as much protection as he can get.
No more tight ends, agreed.
And I think I would prefer a QB that has played a lot before and not warmed a bench for 2 years.
