I think a lot of the breakdown of the team began just after he signed his new contract. The Texans needed to loose up some salary cap space and the first move they made was to trade DeAndre Hopkins - arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, and by far Watson's favorite receiver - to the Arizona Cardinals for oft injured, journeyman running back David Johnson. That upset Watson a great deal.
When the Texans season started falling apart they sacked their head coach and general manager. Watson thought that the organization would seek his input on replacement head and/or offensive coach candidates to see who he would best like to work with to suit his skill set and philosophy. The team did not. Which angered him further.
The Houston business office does seem to be lacking sound decision makers.

Amazon's All or Nothing has David Johnson in his first year with the Arizona Cardinals. They seemed to be pretty excited at the time.

Amazon's All or Nothing has David Johnson in his first year with the Arizona Cardinals. They seemed to be pretty excited at the time. Johnson had one really good year with the Cards, 2016. But is often the case with running backs, they age rather quickly because of the pounding they take. DeAndre Hopkins has been a much more consistent top performer his entire career. Receivers tend to play in the league much longer.

And I think, as Yankee hinted, having a smart agent who knows how it works really helped Watson. I wouldn't think he came up with the veto idea himself but it's very much in his favour.
As for Tua, we definitely need a good QB but I'm not sure he's the one. Not in the present setup anyway. He is smarter than Mitchell (but then so is a brick, sometimes) but I would prefer an older QB who can put some discipline into that offence. Someone who knows how to run a line and get respect.

In a blockbuster deal the Detroit Lions have traded 12 year veteran QB Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for 5 year veteran QB Jared Goff. The Lions also recieve a 3rd round draft pick in 2021, a first round pick in 2022 and a first round pick in 2023! Both Stafford and Goff are former #1 picks in the draft. I'd say the thing that shocks me most is that in addition to receiving a starting QB with only 5 years of milage on his body in Goff, the Lions are getting enormous draft capital with two first round draft picks and a 3rd round pick in exchange for a QB who who be entering his 15th season by the time the final first draft pick is coming due.

Why would the Rams want Stafford? Especially that dearly!

I wonder if it's a salary cap thing.
The Rams spent a lot of cap money on their defense and they would have had to give Goff a big money contract after his 5 year rookie deal was over.
Stafford for a brief time was the highest paid NFL player when the Lions signed him to his 2nd contract extension. But that contract must be coming to an end.
The Rams probably had to include the generous draft picks in order to get Detroit to agree to take Goffs contract.
The Rams can negotiate an end of career contract with Stafford for cheaper coin leaving all the money they save from dumping Goffs contract for the next few years to plug other holes.
Meanwhile Stafford still has at least some gas left in the tank and could possibly take the Rams deep into the playoffs the next couple of years.
Goff was terrific his first few years but fell out of favor with Rams coaches. He is only 26 and still has loads of potential.
It certainly seems like an AMAZING steal of trade for Detroit with the two first round pics + a guy that can be your QB for the next 10 years.

Yeah, that makes sense. Still a heck of a deal for the Lions though, as you say.

What's going on with the Pro Bowl? I'm finding all kinds of simulations and EA Sports nonsense but I can't find the game! Was there one?

This can hold you over until the Super Bowl.
The Senior Bowl is especially important in 2021 as there is not going to be a Combine. So all the scouting for the draft has to be done from the Senior Bowl and footage of 2020 college games.

Something I didn't know until I was watching the Senior Bowl is that Ian Book is the all-time wins leader at QB for Notre Dame with 30. He was a three year starter so that comes to an average of 10 wins a season. When you think of all the great QBs that played at Notre Dame - including Joe Montana - that is a pretty big deal.
