No, my bad, I forgot to mention Lovie was sacked by University of Illinois mid-December.

The whole reason he was hired was to see if he could recruit top talent from the Chicago metro area upstate Illinois as well as the St. Louis metro area downstate to play for the Fighting Illini.

Its hard to get the black kids from the city to want to go to college at University of Illinois which is downstate in farm country. These kids don't want to go from Chicago to Dibley, where the only black people are the athletes at college.

So they wind-up going to other colleges which are located closer to big cities where they feel more at home.

In 5 years at Illinois Lovie had a record of 17-39 (including 10-33 in Big 10 Conference games) and just one bowl game.

The Fighting Illini never had a winning record when he was coach. Their best season was 2019 when they went 6-7 and were invited to the Redbox Bowl which they lost 35-20 to the University of California Golden Bears.

Its tough on QBs in these all-star games. They are playing with guys they met a few days before and maybe had 2 or 3 practices with. The chemistry, timing all of that is off. But it is their audition at the same time.

Mond is being compared to Patrick Mahomes-lite. Similar size, type of play, experience, leadership. He is - as you can tell - no where near as talented as Mahomes but in the same style.

I think coaches are reluctant for some reason to have legends of the past on their staff. Having an '85 Bears legend as a subordinate takes away from their own "new broom sweeping clean" and not reliving past glories I reckon. Plus if the team played poorly next season fans would be chanting "sack Nagy, promote Samurai to head coach!"

As it is now, no one has any idea who this new defense coach is other than he was one of many assistants on the sidelines.

He is 13 and looks like hes 30! He barely fits in his kit! Hilarious

The kid in the queue behind him is less than half his height! What was his mum feeding him. LOL

Punt, pass and kick is a competition held throughout the US for budding young footballers. To see who can punt, pack and kick a football the furthest. Top kids from each region and age group usually have a "finals" competition at halftime of their local team - and then a country wide final on Monday Night Football. Many NFL players were former P,P & K participants.
