Anyone catch this. It is allegedly a quirky romance about two people who meet, break up (after one date) and reappear in each other’s lives over 15 years. So a bit of Normal People meets One Day, I guess.
Alice is in Finance but bloody hell! Check out her apartment! It is absolutely massive, I think in the Barbican area, and has a lift door actually in her hallway. Yes, not in the corridor outside but within. Now, this would be OWNER of the bank territory, not someone like her. Jack is a research bio chemist and utterly adorable. She is a cow. The stars are Andrea Risborough and Domnhall Gleason (can’t be bothered to check spelling) and they have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever. He eventually marries Aisling Bea, who brings more energy than the other two combined and seems great, but of course stupid Jack has a thing for his soulmate. God knows why, she is a cypher.
i read a review questioning where it was set because although we see London, everyone he meets is Irish! 😂
I thought Normal People was dreadful, it’s acting overrated and Paul Mescal only ever seemed to ask “Are you OK?” to the self centred woman. Well guess what, we got that!!! I shall see how episode 2 goes but with judicious use of the FF button I think. I think my recording may have gone wrong though so I shan’t be pursuing it to All4 with it adverts.

I read a review that said they had no chemistry, so glad I didn’t bother

So by the end of episode 2 he has been dumped and divorced by the lovely wife and is back yearning for icy Alice. God knows why. I shall follow this just to see who he ends up with.

I lasted about 10 minutes into the first episode and gave up because nothing about it was holding my attention.

I'm interested enough to keep on with it. Alice was clearly a very damaged person even before we saw her extreme reaction to Jack coming up behind her when she was trying to calm his baby daughter. Then she revealed the explanation at the end of ep. 2 in the scene with the kites (which there was also a clip of at the very beginning of ep.1). I thought she was leaking a bit of a geordie accent in that scene - so I looked her up in Wikipedia and indeed, Andrea Riseborough was born in Newcastle & grew up in Whitley Bay.
We've got through 2 years of their relationship so far. I guess there's a lot of years to come yet.

I think we skip a lot of years and am expecting 15-20! One Day was 15 years wasnt it? This won’t want to stray far from that.

Thank God that’s over. What a misfire, I even preferred Normal People and I hated that. There was no reason whatsoever for these two to stay in touch, let alone be this great love of each other’s life. I mean, really? They were apart for years at a time and she was just an unpleasant person. He acted like a total lovesick puppy, but this made no sense to me, not if he had any self respect. I thought it might improve once she had died but then he did too and it ended up with them in adjacent graves, 🥱. I don’t see why the daughter shredded his research notes though. They should have gone back to the lab surely.
