Anyone watching this? It is nearly over on BBC1 but is available on iPlayer.
It tells the story of Elizabeth Holmes who was recently in the news over the Theranos blood test scandal/fraud. Not only is it extremely good, it is an absolutely amazing story. This woman, who seems little short of bonkers to me, attracted to the board of her company (a total fraud) people like Henry Kissinger and George Schultz. It absolutely beggars belief but it is a fabulous show. The central performance by Amanda Seyfried (sp?) is wonderful and her much older liver and business partner is played by Naveen Andrews. Stephen Fry also features as the chemist who tried to develop the requisite testing capability.

I just binged the first 3 episodes- I had heard the story, and it’s one of those stories that if someone pitched it as a tv show they would get rejected as being too far fetched, but it actually happened. It’s the “fake it til you make it” philosophy taken to its logical conclusion. Very good indeed .

Yes, it is very engrossing isn’t it? The Elizabeth actress is superb and I became totally obsessed with her head nodding tic! She started doing that after she changed her voice and adopted the black polo neck look. I want to know if she did that in real life! When she couldn’t answer a question she always did it and then spouted some BS answer. But nobody seemed to care. Unbelievable really.
I cannot understand why the authorities thought it was more his fault than hers though. I read it was because he was so much older and led her astray. But I think she knew exactly what she was doing and had him in her thrall. Or maybe that’s just how the show played it. Bloody bonkers though, wasn’t she?
