Anyone watch this? Richard Armitage plays a British surgeon in Beijing for a conference. After the night out from Hell where he is drugged and stabbed, he drives off and crashes his car. The Chinese authorities then claim he left a dying woman in the car. He gets a flight home early but when he lands is arrested and deported to China. (Now I wouldn’t like to swear that this was legal, given that he had no extradition hearing and it all seemed to rely on the opinion of one very unpleasant Border Force chap. And apparently he had no rights because they got him before he came back through immigration. Well personally I think that’s all a bit worrying!)
This zipped along at a fast pace. So even if it probably doesn’t bear too much scrutiny it was really zippy and entertaining. When he tries to make a protest about his treatment he leaps onto some chairs and asks people to film him. RA said they did that in a departure lounge at Stanstead so that would have spiced up folks’ airport wait, 😂😂.

Just started watching this. It's a bit daft. And it's filmed through a blue filter so looks really dull and cold.

To have Richard Armitage leap onto a seat near me at the airport and ask me to film him would certainly make my day!😃
It is a bit bonkers but it was quite exciting and I enjoyed it. I'm not quite sure whether that enjoyment and the necessary suspension of disbelief can be sustained through 5 more episodes all, apparently, taking place during that one plane journey but I'll certainly give it a go.

The interviews (if that's what you could call them!) with Border Force seemed to take place on either side of an exceptionally wide table which looked a bit odd until I wondered if this was filmed during Covid restrictions on distance? That all seems such a long time ago now.

This is real nonsense! {SPOILER:Click to Show}What kind of police officer doesn't lock his screen when he leaves his office? Honestly, my disbelief is suspended barely two inches from the floor.

I have binged the whole lot now. It's total nonsense but the kind that keeps you watching to see what happens next.
It does have a very good reveal though.

I’ve recorded it at home as I knew I would be at my sisters yesterday, looking forward to it, if nothing else for Richard Armitage!

We watched it, and I was pretty gripped by it. Sorely tempted to watch the rest during this week.

I switched. Do they know how long it takes to extradite someone?

This actually made me laugh out loud last night, talk about a flight of doom! But despite everything it positively zips along and I find it all rather enjoyable. And the head of MI5 in bed with that chap from the CIA!!! Blimey!
I had a ticket to see him at The Old Vic some years ago and I was struck down with whooping cough! I was so gutted. Apparently there was a huge returns queue so my group leader sold it easily, but even so…

It is starting to remind me very much of that submarine thing a few years ago with Suranne Jones: a cast of characters trapped together, everyone creeping around in semi-darkness, the body count mounting with each episode, vital systems mysteriously being turned off, hidden compartments and tunnels.....

I'm quite enjoying it, even though it's a bit farcical. After 2 episodes we now have 3 bodies - 2 human, 1 canine. If there's going to be more they'll be running out of places to store them on the aircraft.

True, although that maintained terrific tension, as opposed to be hysterical at times. Still Red Eye is quite a good watch imho.

Also there was Rig 45 (More4/Walter Presents) with its captive set of characters including a detective, sabotage, and an advancing body count. Series 1 good, series 2 bad as I remember.
