This was on BBC last year, if anyone remembers it. Based in London, Stellan Skarsgard plays a police inspector, Nicola Walker is his sidekick (I think), but there's an interesting twist.

I watched the first one last night as I missed it on the BBC. Interesting. But bloody dark. Could barely see half of it.

Agreed, I am watching it on the tablet and have turned the brightness right up (yes, you can do that on the tv but it's 20 different modes or something! - did older tvs have basic brightness and colour buttons? - seem to recall.)

Yes they did. Similar to the volumes buttons: up for brighter, down for darker. Didn't interrupt watching the programmes. Now it's about going into settings and setup and god knows what.

I watched this on the BBC and absolutely loved it. Very different. If anyone's watching for the first time, I recommend you stick with it. A lot of layers to it.

Interesting 2nd episode tonight, River is obviously "different" (his own words), and a police officer. Reminds me a bit of The Bridge, and the main character of Saga, who was also different, with her possible Asperger's syndrome.
Anyway, I love this, utterly absorbing, intelligent and well-written, plus unusual.

I saw this on the BBC and thought it was an intelligent and well written series. Stellan Skarsgård and Nicola Walker were excellent as the lead characters. This is a series that I think is best going into it knowing nothing about the plot twists, just let the story unfold.

I'm finding it quite boring. Too much staring into space and far too much angst. I can't really get past the fact that he would be on sick leave, behaving the way he is. He certainly wouldn't be at work.
Yes I know, the maverick cop trope but lordy me, there has to be a limit.

I enjoyed this on the beeb as well, I couldn't stop singing Tina Charles 'I love to love' afterwards though!

Watching all of this now, what an ending! Felt quite tearful, as it was sad and beautiful at the same time. I remember the Tina Charles' song being in the chart and her singing it on Top of the Pops, it suited the story perfectly.
