All of you crafts people have my undying admiration, I was severely put off knitting when slapped on the knuckles by an infant teacher when I sewed a knitted dolly's cardigan the wrong way out. I didn't learn as when working for a lingerie company sewed up 20 night dresses in the same way. My only claim to fame was my hand stitched embroidery which my teacher thought was beautiful at the time, now sadly even that skill has gone. Love looking at your pics though.

Excellent Foggy, hope you start another soon. My favourite style is Log cabin, once you start that it can become quite addictive but best not to rush it . PS my efforts were before the days of this Bias binding gadget but would the gadget be successful in making a broad finish as yours is?

Love your quilt, and your bias binding, toggy! I seem to remember being taught how to make bias binding in school, about a hundred years ago.......

The Clover ones come in four sizes of finished width - 6 mm, 12 mm, 18 mm and 25 mm.

Love your quilt toggy. If that was laid out on my floor, not only would there be a cat tree but millions of cat hairs too!
I have been poorly for the past 4 days with a monster cold and am bored so today I decided to try and teach myself to crochet via YouTube. It isn't going well. I blame the cold fuddled head! I WILL do it though.

I used to be able to crochet but tried again recently and couldn't get the hang of it.
Have started knitting again though.

Must look in my good for a small town sewing/knitting shop though doubt if Will ever have use for it. I now wonder what miracle gadgets for sewing have been invented since I stopped the serious stuff To Toggy, sorry about the Foggy I hadn't noticed that or would have corrected it !

I WILL do it though. My grandmother tried to teach me to crochet but I could never get the hang of it. And then one day, all on my own, it just clicked. I used to crochet a lot, so much that, in the 1960s, I had quite a business going crocheting the dresses that were in fashion which had a close crocheted top (sleeveless, short sleeved or long sleeves) and a shell openwork skirt with a thin plaited tie belt. Then I developed rheumatoid arthritis which made crochet difficult, but I'm doing it again using a crochet hook with a flattened, padded shaft. Means the hook stays straight in my hand so the hook stays facing where I want it to without me having to worry about it turning as the original straight shafted ones can do. I find Clover are the best, but there are other makes. If you're just learning, you might find those with a flattened shaft easier to learn with because that's one less variable to think about.

Interesting project! I don't think I'll attempt it, knowing my penchant for sewing things upside down and inside out! Let us know how it goes.

I love it, that you crocheted dresses of that style. I can so picture them! I learnt to knit a bit, and my nan was a keen knitter and could use fine yarns to make dresses and master Fair Isle. Mum still does a bit, and she also had a knitting machine in the Seventies (remember those? - and the zzzsh zzzsh noise as the big rack loom knitting creator or whatever it was, was slid side to side, with a large tapered cone of special thin knitting machine wool feeding in. Had a few garments made, they were a bit prickly and odd!) I tried crochet but could never quite pick it up. Sewing is more a case of having to when necessary, shortening curtains maybe or can make minor clothes adjustments.

Update on the Christmas tree project, I went mad and made 5! There are only 4 in the photo as I had to post one this morning. I'm quite pleased with them.
