Cricket is set to give umpires the power to send players off for the first time next year, while the size of bats is to be limited. Players will be dismissed for: - threatening an umpire
- physically assaulting another player, umpire, official or spectator
- any other act of violence on the field of play
Mike Brearley has said that this would mostly need to be applied at lower levels of the game where such problems are not uncommon, but that the rules would be applied at all levels. More information on this and other changes can be found here: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/38234108

Oh wow. I was going to ask how often that happened cos it's certainly rare in Test cricket. It's common in lower levels?

I like the changes to the bat sizes though. It's about time the game was weighted towards the bowler a bit more. Far too easy for the batsman at the minute.

There is a comment that it's the bat weight that needs to be changed, not the depth. Is that right? Never having played, I don't know what difference it would make.
