Just caught up with last Sunday's episode and OMG what a powerful one it was ? I was thoroughly enthralled for the hour ... and how well they tackled all those topics ? Glad they've edged out the girl couple as their story was weak and unbelievable but the issues raised re mixed rave and thalidomide were tackled brilliantly. Excellent ! Tissues needed in abundance ! "Mixed rave"? I don't recall that part! But come to think of it, I could easily see Sister Monica Joan getting down to it on the dancefloor...

I thought that was an odd case to demonstrate the dangers of the pill. She seemed to be taking them all the time (they used to tell you to take it the same time every day) and at one point she took three at once. What was going on?

How wonderful everything seemed to come together just before 9.00pm. Far from there not being a dry 'Iced eye' in the house as the continuity announcer spoke of, I was left feeling how cheesy could this programme get? Yes it's a simple Sunday night drama but for goodness sake please have some realism, we predicted every outcome from the start. And will they please stop Vanessa Redgrave and her ridiculous outpourings before and after, drives us both mad, not needed schmaltz!

We found it most odd Marion, the woman had done her homework on the pill and how it worked, so why take three at a time?

Did Sister Mary Cynthia get a mention at all?? No! I thought she would be at the wedding but there was no sign and no mention of her. It is as if she has ceased to exist. Very odd....but then, there have been various aspects throughout this series that have been very odd.

I found the pill scenes bonkers, she would have known - she wasn't stupid - that it was just one pill a day. The oddest bit for me was Barbara, a virgin, not only being given a MASSIVE cap, but also having it inserted for her by the nurse - even in my day as a teen in the 1980s they wouldn't even give you an internal examination if you weren't yet sexually active. Poor old Tom will be disappointed on his wedding night when he discovers his bride has been "deflowered" by a nurse.
A lovely episode though, I really enjoyed it apart from the poor woman dying.

I couldn't believe that in a clinic offering the teeny tiny pill Barbara went for the MASSIVE cap. It looked as big as a tea cup. Then it flew about all round the bathroom! I think she got a raw deal.

How sweet that she scrimped on the wedding and the nuns have a whip round then he splashes out on a merry-go-round for her.
