They were beautiful, weren't they? I spotted quite a few but didn't get a full list.

We had a similar thing in Southampton last year with zebras. They were brilliant.
Also Marwell Zoo did a trail with rhinos a few years ago.

There we go, I knew they'd be other places. I'm sure somewhere had painted cows. Miranda, I don't think anyone got the full list. Most where in the main city centre, I think about 10 were dotted around the cathedral and at least 4 were in Victoria Sq, but a few where out of town, like one at Summerfield Park which is where they started their show last night (you could actually see the owl in the background on one shot!lol), and while Summerfield is not miles away one was at Twycross Zoo! which is a fair distance from the rest of the owls. Also Birmingham Airport. I think if I had a car and could have driven to them I would have got them all! I'm the person who when they get a bag of M&M's divides them into their various colours before eating them! I have to have sets. I remember when I realised there were lots of these owls, I was like a woman possessed!
P.S.-I did put a pic of one of the owls in the arts and crafts section on the photography thread.

You did! Did you manage to get pictures of all the ones you found? Most of them I did. Some of the little owls I just took 1 photo but there's 4 little owls in it. I happened to take my camera because it was Artsfest and I knew they'd be stuff happening over the city (including ballet in the Bull Ring) but got distracted and as I had my camera it seemed a shame not to record them!lol. I'll try a post another couple. Lots were looking for Snow Hill because that's where the TARDIS owl was!

Oh,it's not there now. It was only while the Big Hoot was on in 2015. All the owls were auctioned off and the money raised went to Birmingham Children's Hospital. The TARDIS owl sold for 10k. I was so annoyed when I found out that every owl was put on display for about a week or weekend before the auction. I could have seen all the ones Id missed, because some were real works of art and everyone has a different favourite. www.birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/arts-culture-news/birmingham-childrens-hospital-big-hoot-10271905

We had life-sized lions positioned around Poole and Bournemouth. Why? Because local resident Martin Clunes is a patron of the Born Free Foundation and of local Julia's House Childrens' Hospice. The 50 lions were painted by all sorts of organisations and auctioned to raise money fr the two charities.
Poole is a port. We have passenger and car ferries going to the continent and we have Sunseeker, who make luxury (very luxury) boats for the rich and famous, so perhaps boats would have been more appropriate, but they're not as appealing as brightly coloured lions..
We had Poole Pottery, and still do have a couple of their artists working in what's left of the pottery on the quay - production has moved to Staffordshire. So large replicas of their pottery animals range would have fitted but I don't suppose they'd agree to that.
We also have Lush Cosmetics, which most residents wish would go away because of the smell. Can't think of anything to fit that.

There's a Lush shop at my local shopping centre and have to swerve walking past it cause the smell gets right up my nose and I want to sneeze. I suppose a single bar of soap is ok it's just the smell of hundreds of them. You have my sympathy if you get that smell on an industrial scale.
I think when do these charity things they usually do animals. I suppose they're more cute and cuddly than card or boats and more likely to get brought afterwards. The ones in Ham were auction for the children's hospital aswell.

Yes we have Lush on an industrial scale as well as a shop. The factory employs a lot of Polish workers and, according to some who've worked there, instructions are even given in Polish. Poole is a very cosmopolitan.
After the Brexit vote the owner was seething and saying he'd move production to Germany, which residents greeted with joy. Wasn't strictly true though because he was already building a factory in Germany. We'd still be happy to see it go - or rather not smell it any more. It really is overpowering and sickly around both the factory and the shop.
Apologies for going off topic.

Don't think anyone's mentioned the lambananas in Liverpool in 2008 ...smaller version of the Super lambanana, there were about 150 of them all over the city, sponsored by various bodies, obviously there was a Liverpool FC one, an Everton one, one painted as wearing the mayoral robes, one with Lancashire place-names ... and more I had a happy week celebrating a special birthday by searching for them!

They were all over Liverpool several years ago. Superlambananas. A cross between a lamb and a banana. We Merseysiders are a tad eccentric!
