Finding it rather low-key this series. Louisa seems to have lost her spark and quietly acquiesces to Martin's silliness. I assume they have a medical adviser on the series, so why hasn't anyone pointed out to the doc that after having blood taken, you shouldn't bend your arm? That way bruises lie ...
I didn't remember what Clive Russell's from previous series but am sorry he's gone; he's such a good actor with a much better mastery of accents than most.

I don't remember Clive Russell from the earlier series either. He seems to pop up in all sorts of things at the moment, but never very big roles. He's in Catherine the Great (Sky Atlantic) currently as a sort of court jester.

Yes, it was. That's probably his most prominent TV role in recent years. He also had a leading role in the Scottish series Rockface, about a mountain rescue team, but that was a long time ago.

Selina Cadell (Mrs Tishell) is the guest on Private Passions on R3 just now. I hadn't connected her with the late Simon Cadell – he was her brother. She's an interesting woman, a writer and director specialising in 18th-century drama and, particularly, opera..

Caroline Quentin was on good form as the vet, and a good sport. What a surgery! Her treatment room is about three times the size of Martin's, and with a fab view.
I'm a bit worried about Louisa, who seems more subdued as the weeks go by.

Well, that was a surprising ending, though realistically the right outcome. But then the whole premise is ridiculous, and a bit insulting to GPs. If this is the end I will miss it, even though it irritates me!

I'll miss it too, but I don't believe we've seen the last of it. The Sun is saying there won't be another series, but I think they're wrong.
Martin Clunes said when this series 9 was announced that they're still planning a new one every 2 years. ITV haven't renewed it for a tenth series yet, but they also haven't cancelled it as far as I'm aware. Even if they do, it's very popular abroad and someone else could pick it up - e.g. Acorn TV (Doc Martin distributor in the US), who took over Agatha Raisin after Sky dropped it.

Did he call a patient Russ Abbott

Did he call a patient Russ Abbott Subtitles said Ross Abbott, which didn't mean anything to me. It's something like the reverse of last week's Albert Ross. Certainly didn't look like the actual Russ Abbott.
The next patient was Mrs. House, whose first name turned out to be Wendy...
