Not sure if this was Channel Four or More4, or if it is even still being shown on free to air, but ...
Showtime has officially recommissioned a two-season pick-up for Homeland and renewed the CIA drama for a seventh and eighth season.

Gosh, if ever a show jumped the shark it's this one. Yet it limps on ... strangely compelling though, I will tune in and hope to see more of Saul this time. Sarita Choudhury (Mira) popped up in an episode of Death in Paradise which was repeated on Drama recently, filmed while she was still in Homeland. I don't think we'll see her in Homeland again, though.

Happily could do without Carrie. Awful character that ran its course after series three, if not two. A Saul/Dar series I could get on board with though. Old geezers doing spying and black ops? What's not to like?

That would be good! Though with Clare Danes as exec producer, not a chance, I fear. She has done for Homeland what Julianna Margulies did for The Good Wife.

I'm keen to watch the next series to see if Peter Quinn has survived.

It would be ludicrous if he has. Not the first ludicrous thing to happen though!

What's not to like? I could do without her as well, she is ghastly! I don't know why everyone bends to her will and no one tells her to get lost! The number of people she gets killed or hurt in some way.

Looking forward to this. Thanks for the heads up.
BTW There are 2 Homeland prequel novels available. Carrie's Run and Saul's Law both by Andrew Kaplan. The first is very good. Haven't read the second yet.

The fact that she is one of the producers will mean that the accent will be more and more on her so I definitely won't be watching the next series.

Aw, I like Claire Danes. I've seen quite a lot of the stuff she's been in over the years (going right back to 'My so-called life' when she was a teen).
Just looked at the cast list for this latest series. Can't figure out how to do spoilers in the Quick Reply box / on my Kindle, so I'll just say I'm very pleased and leave it at that, lol.

Claire Danes was Meryl Streep's daughter in The Hours, younger of course and quite different. She's so associated with Carrie now that it's hard to imagine her doing anything else, which won't do her any favours when the series finally grinds to a ponderous halt. Not that she'll be bothered though! And her IMDB entry shows a long list of roles before Homeland so I guess she'll have a rest for a while and then start playing other parts. That's assuming Homeland ever does end ... It's common for US shows to run for 6 series, sorry, seasons, and this is season 6 so one more to go perhaps.
