I find I sit there watching and constantly saying shut up. It's bad enough when they waffle on between points...but totally out or order when the are doing it during the play. I would mute the sound but I like to hear the ball struck etc. Great match again with young Kyle Edmunds, what a ferocious forehand that young man has.

Jo Konta did vey well too. Dispatched her opponent in 52 minutes.
How jammy is Djockers? Gets a walk over in the second round then plays half a set in the third round before his opponent walks off injured. I hope Kyle gives him a good game.

Tennis commentary is to this board what background music was to the old board! (Joke not a criticism!)
I forgot to listen to LBC this morning so I wonder who covered Andrew Castle's show. If he has gone to Eurosport, perhaps Simon Reed will come to The BBC for Wimbledon..... That would be good. I only have Freeview so see very little.
I can't remember who he was with but I did notice recently (must have been Wimbledon) that Peter Fleming seemed really testy during one match.

I'd love it if Simon Reed replaced Andrew Castle. I was really impressed with his commentating during the Olympics. I don't see it happening though – AC has his feet well under the table at Wimbledon.

I think Djokovic having such an easy way through might not necessarily work in his favour. He's hasn't had much match play of late.

I'd love it if Simon Reed replaced Andrew Castle. I was really impressed with his commentating during the Olympics. I don't see it happening though – AC has his feet well under the table at Wimbledon. Today I have been watching Burghley and they have changed things up a bit. Instead of just Mike Tucker and Ian Stark (mumbling away), they have had newer people doing stints and also invited riders into the box to give their views. It has been quite enjoyable! (And the course conditions made it very eventful, I shrieked several times.) I wondered if they were trying out new people with an eye on the future. They had an excellent new dressage chap on in Rio. Perhaps the Tennis Dept should do the same. Given how many tennis commentators they have, I am amazed they are not able to field the dream team. Or after Simon Reed's star turn in Rio, field a dream one. But ever since the Dan era they haven't had single commentators, have they?

Good news for Simon Reed fans. He's now back commentating at the US Open. He's co-covering the Tsonga/Sock match at the mo!
Welcome back Simon!
I'm sure Simon already commentates at Wimbledon.

I'm sure Simon already commentates at Wimbledon. Yes he does, he's one of the best. Sad to see we are now down to one Brit, but they did play well. I was totally gripped by the Nadal match last night. The French bloke played brilliantly (I did try to write his name but it kept changing it to Poole)...but was it necessary to have three commentators. I can cope with Wilander and McEnroe, but the droning Petchy as well Just Andy left now.

Yes three commentators was total overkill.
Another excellent commentator is Frew McMillan. Always honest, fair and unbiased. He's only on Eurosport though. Would like to hear him at Wimbledon.

I remember 2 years back they had Andy Roddick commentating. He was really good and knowledgeable. Sadly, he had other commitments this year.
If I had paid money out to watch Andy and Dimitrov last night, I would ask for my money back, Andy trashed him.

Trying to watch the Monfils/Pouille match. I swear Jonh McEnroe hasn't stopped talking since it started. Mark Petchey is no better. They are just burbling on incessently even when the ball is in play. Half the time they're not even commentating on the match. It's so disrespectful to fans trying in vain to watch the tennis.

Now Tsonga retires so Djokovic has hardly played this year. I fear he might win another slam.

If I was of a suspicious mind I would think there is something a bit odd going on here. Three matches he has virtually avoided because his opponent retired. Convenient to say the least.

He's certainly been lucky. I just hope Monfils gives him a good game and doesn't also retire injured. That really would be "convenient".

Babbling continues during Murray/Nishikori match. I am also shouting at the telly.
