Wow it was certainly humid in that stadium. Almost like being in a sauna.

Well done Stan......the yanks obviously don't find it too vulgar to announce his cash prize over the PA..

Just finished watching a recording of the match - I fell asleep at 5 all in the third set. Stan Wawrinka was superb. I've been a fan for ages - I do like volleys and single-handed back hands! He wore Djokovic down. A deserving winner. I agree - it was very vulgar to announce the prize money....bu the US Open is a bit like that: that awful "bowl" they have to play in, and the roof that takes away all the air and sun, and the chucking of balls up and down the court......so anyone who can win there really deserves it.
Let's hope that next year the commentating improves - there was far too much babbling going on. Less is more Eurosport!!!

Very pleased for Stan, who has spent so much of his career in Roger's shadow. It's good to have another player in the top tier. This is his third slam, I think? What will that do to the rankings?
I wonder what is wrong with Novak? He was exhausted after winning the career slam but that was a while ago now. He needs to get his mojo back unless there is a medical problem he isn't revealing. It may just be that he had an off day, and he had such an easy ride up to the final that he wasn't really tested.

I think Djokovic has lost his edge now. It happens to them all in time...can't be perfect for ever. He did complain of a wrist problem (and a few personal ones) but at the end of the day Wawrinka played better. I have to say I thought the toe he was getting treated looked painful.

Just watching the replay now.
Pleased for Stan. Finally out of Roger's shadow. Three slams now. I agree about the over emphasising of the prize money. Not surprising in the money obssessed USA. It's cheap and nasty. The players always give more importance to the title and trophy than their earnings.

But then they don't need to do it in the UK as they know Andrew Castle will do it for them! He's always banging on about prize money.

Well done to Stan. Now all he needs is the Wimbles trophy to complete his set.

One more thing about the presentation, I would have thought a former USA champion/legend might have presented the trophy, rather than someone from admin (albeit the CEO)

Davis Cup on BBC 2: What's the point of the loud music between games? I would hate it if I were there.

Loud music seems to be the norm at most sporting events to appease the noise junkies probably. The worst is gymnastics where there is constant din even when the gymnasts are competing Drives me mad when watching on TV. Looks like Murray is up against it.

It's always noisy like that for the Davis cup. Not a good start for GB.

Two down! Not looking hopeful, though it has to be said they were both very close matches.
We should snaffle the doubles today, but to win Kyle has to beat Del Potro tomorrow. Now that really is a big ask!
