Wimbledon may be off this year but the programmes they are doing are excellent.

Wimbledon may be off this year but the programmes they are doing are excellent. ....wish they would replay the 2001 final between Goran and Pat Rafter as it was played on a Monday and I missed it through work....

Oh! I enjoyed that final as well. Was that the year Goran was a wildcard?

I'm loving the old commentators who didn't feel that every second needed to be filled up with them talking nonsense.

No hawkeye. Just cyclops. Second Wimbledon final for Rafter. Serve and Volleying still prevalent with very few rallies worthy of the name.

I had forgotten the name they gave to the old number two court...The seeds graveyard. How true was that. Just watched Sampras go out, the last time he played.

Just watching Becker in 85. I had forgotten how good he was.

Steffi looked like she had blood all down the front of her shirt! Freaked me out when she first appeared.

I remember watching this live. And even then I thought McEnroe was a spoilt brat. And I was only 15 at the time.

Love the tranquility of the 1970s/early 1980s matches. Apart from Wimbledon every major tournament today has to have a DJ and audience participation of some sort. Not my idea of a great day out anymore.

I haven't had time to watch these but I do agree about the atmosphere, both of the crowd and the commentators. Dan Maskell was great, wasn't he? And the courts! Dry as dust towards the end of the fortnight. And yet it did rain and rain and rain sometimes, causing the BBC to be very inventive in filling up hours of no play.
There was a dreadful period when Garry Richardson would pop up from behind the umpire's chair to shove a microphone into the face of someone who'd just lost a match. Thankfully they stopped that, but I've never liked the on-court post-match interviews, which I think are an American import.

I must admit one of my highlights has been hearing the brilliant Dan Maskell. IMO the best ever. Saddest bit was watching Jana Novotna, such a lovely lady.
