Best talent show on the telly, much more entertaining than X Factor etc which I can't stand to be honest.

Best talent show on the telly, much more entertaining than X Factor etc which I can't stand to be honest. The trouble with X Factor and the like is that there is only singers (boring). With BGT you do get actual variety - though, as I hope every year, it would be better if the producers shelved the tedious back-stories of certain contestants and used the time to show us more of the acts. Especially the red buzzer kind - I love the 'failures' as much as the ones that go through to the knockout stages!

How emotional (and good) was that choir for missing people ? I had to break out the Kleenex .... Love to watch Amanda and alesha but they annoy the hell out of me they are SO pathetic and predictable... david Williams makes it for me ! And all their lovely dogs too !

Just said the same in the Green Room, I was moved to tears for that choir. Can't imagine my child just walking out aged 15 and never coming back, in fact any relative whose lost a loved one and doesn't know where or why they've gone, horrendously cruel. I just hope for whatever reason, if their loved ones chose to go they get in touch and just say they're ok. Of course for some the alternative is far worse, it's the not knowing.

I didn't like that kid comedian. He seemed quite smug at the end almost as if I'm a kid so you can't say anything back. And he's not really a comedian, he's more an actor reading the lines his dad's given him, who IS a comedy writer and writes for Not Going Out. The singing impressionist was ok, but didn't wow me. Ive seen it before, Jane Horrocks is better. Having said all that I enjoyed the 4 acts man with the car and boat on his head, but mainly because it was sooo random and sooo bad that it was like a tv version of a rubber neck! The mind readers were brilliant. I don't know how they did that, there is a trick to it because although they said they're the only people doing that act, Derren Brown has done similar where he'll ask you to think of a number etc and he'll know, so it's a similar act, but it's still impressive and they did it so well and the twist with the t-shirts was clever as an added shock even though I think I know how they did that part... I think theyre wearing black t-shirts with a fake camouflage front. When the guy asks Simon to join him on stage as he was walking behind Simon he was tucking something up his t-shirt and I think it was the camouflage panel off the t-shirt which he'd pulled off because when he got on stage it was plain black I felt sorry for them because the reaction was a bit mixed but I think it's because people were in shock sitting there going "what?!" The missing people choir broke me. I admit I had to pause it because I was crying my eyes out, started it again and 30seconds later just burst into tears afain. The song was beautiful and their singing really good but add to that their stories. I don't know how they get through it, the not knowing and wondering must be so tiring. I don't know if it's worse than a bereavement, because at least you have a place to go to remember them, you have closure, you know the person isn't coming back so you can more forward with your life after a bereavement. But that always wondering and not knowing with someone who's missing would make it hard to move forward. Heartbreaking, I hope they get further in the competition as they're actually a good choir. ...on a lighter note the dog yoga was lovely. I did gasp when she has the dog on her lap while doing the boat position with the dogs tail sticking out between her legs!🐶

How good was that last night?
A good mixture of fun and sillyness and the choir that left a lump in throat.
The girl who got the golden buzzer could sing, but it did go on a bit and was more of an impression, is that her actual singing voice?
Still got the ITV 2 show to watch.

I'm afraid the Missing Persons Choir failed to stir up any lumps in my throat as I am not overkeen on the 'emotional heartstrings' acts - I felt that in places, they left a lot to be desired, musically speaking. Having said that, for the individuals within that choir who have lost loved ones, I do wish the best for them...
As for Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer - well, the young lass has certainly got a powerful set of vocal cords, but that style of singing leaves me absolutely cold. It's more like wailing and screeching - if that's what is 'in fashion' now, they can keep it!

Mal - thankyou for saying that! I didn't see the programme but heard a little of the choir on the radio. Take away the heart rending back story and I doubt they would have made the TV stages. Their loss and lack of knowing would probably kill me and I have nothing but sympathy for their plight. But this is a talent show and I suspect - since they will doubtless win - that act that comes 2nd will be the real winner in 2017.
It reminds me of the record released after the Dunblane shooting. Some average pub singer released a cover of Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's Door - a tribute to a gun slinger so not the best of starts. He then stated that he had "rewritten some of the lyrics" and, boosted by a choir of children, it duly got to no1.
But I doubt many that bought it every played it.
Dylan could hardly decline to let the song be used - imagine the media out cry. But for some nobody to announce that he had personally changed the lyrics of a song written by one of the all time great song writers was vomit inducing....

I don't watch this but heard about the choir on Broadcasting House this morning, so it has done them good to get their name out there at least even if they come nowhere. I think it has the merit of being a genuinely moving back story unlike some of the carp spewed out on other shows.
I read somewhere that AH had had a word with the child comedian's parents about a joke which compared her to a dog..... she didn't think it age appropriate. Did they leave it in?

I watched, and mostly enjoyed BGT. I missed the young lad comedian (how old was he?) as I watched Dr Who to the end which meant I missed the first 10 minutes.
To be honest, I wasn't much moved by the choir. They sounded as good as any choir would with that number of members. Where were the harmonies? They could have called Gareth Malone to whip them into shape. As others have said, their plight is unique and a cause well worth raising and I really wish them well. From what the chief spokesman was saying, I don't think they're 'in it to win it' though - just hopeful that maybe some of the missing may be found.

That chap walking around with the boat and other things on his head had me in laughing out loud...absolutely barmy. Welcome back Britain's Got Talent.
