Gosh, thank you! I was thinking I'd be told that was a crazy idea

I couldn't remember his wife's name so have just looked it up. www.imdb.com/title/tt5973164/fullcredits/She is called Laura but if she had changed her name it would explain why she can't be traced as Rachel and it would explain why the MP is important to the story....which I think he must be, otherwise why does he keep cropping up?

Yes, I think he has to be involved in some way.

I have a feeling that the fella is married to that Rachel they're hoping to find. What's his wife's name? Give yourself a pat on the back! A satisfactory ending for Emma, as far as it could be. I didn't understand about her car - why did nothing happen when she drove off from the Wilds' place? Had the police, who were nearby monitoring her visit, removed the device? More fundamentally, wouldn't the acquired "evidence" of Attar's men's involvement - the fingerprint & cigarette end - which Heather's Americans planted in the car, be likely to get destroyed along with the vehicle?

I wondered that too. I think that the police disarmed the device. It wasn't a bad series but a bit too involved.

Yes, pretty good. Glad I guessed correctly about Rachel.

Well done LoopLobes! I thought of your clever deduction when "Laura" was revealed as Rachel.
So glad I'm not the only one who didn't understand exactly what happened with the planted bomb in the car, nor how the police knew to go there at the end. As Emma approached Wilde's door a shadowy figure bobbed back behind a pillar or door way further down the road. Was that a policeman? Had Olivia Greenwood been monitoring Emma's phone after all? And how did Greenwood get to be reinstated so quickly? Either I wasn't concentrating as well as I thought or it just wasn't made clear. As it was, my impression was that it was all a bit rushed and confused at the end. It was good overall though.

This happens so often, that the detail from previous weeks which is vital to the unfolding, just never gels to full explanation in the final episode, because of the time limit.

Discussed this with my neighbour this afternoon: she says Emma told the police where she was going and why. Did she? I must have nodded off for that bit because I don't remember it.

I don't think we saw her telling the police, but Greenwood referred to it afterwards. In the scene right after Emma drove away from the Wilds, when the police were removing the wire she'd been wearing, Greenwood said to her "I'm glad you called. Well done. That was quite the catch.".

Then I think that was probably very poor editing which did a grave disservice to what has been an excellent and exciting series.

Well done, Loopylobes, I would never have guessed that.
I thought the last episode let the series down. Did they try to cram too much in? I am pleased Mad Heather got picked up by the Police. What a nonsense though, really. Talk about over playing your hand by fitting up Kevin! It was an accident, although then Emma told the MP Kevin went to prison for YOUR crime. Well no, you just said it was an accident. Trust the CIA to over-produce the story. These people!
I also saw more than enough of Kevin's son, trying to guilt trip Emma at one point when his attitude drove his father to suicide!
But apart from all that (lol), I enjoyed most of it.

Well done for actually seeing the final episode. I fell asleep, twice. I may have another go but have a few other things to catch up on, including watching Ripper Street again before the final episode on Monday. There have been a few duds recently, what with Undercover, SS-GB, The Loch, Prime Suspect 1973 and Marcella. Not sure about In the Dark yet, I still have to watch the second episode. Happily there are The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo and the rerun of Top of the Lake to keep me happy! And Broken was very good too.
