Now this is good.
I love an involved political thriller.

I didn't think much of 'The Loch' but I enjoyed this one.

It is good. I didn't realise there was a political element until Michael Gambon appeared at the end.
John Bishop as Helen McCrory's other half! - still not sure whether that works, and he seems a bit too amiable for a press photographer. His voice is very distinctive - I recognised him from that before we saw his face properly.

This is very intriguing, I'll keep watching to find out what happens next.
I reckon something's going on with John Bishops character. He's a press photographer going out with a lawyer and has a woman in his house who's husband's gone to Syria. And there was a bit at the end when Gambon was talking about the photos and was told that had the photographer. I was thinking it could be him and his relationship is a cover. Kind of like Adrian Lester in Undercover. But for a first proper acting role I don't know if that would be too much to lay in him. Lots of questions and few answers at the moment. 🤔

This seemed far superior to The Loch, which is just another whodunnit.
The conspiracies, the surveillance ,calls to Washington, who is good who is bad,got a lot going for it.

Could be, but it's pretty deep cover if he's trying to adopt with Emma. I assumed the photograher they were talking about was the old acquaintance of Steve (John Bishop), who's now a journalist and wrote that inflammatory newspaper article. Steve told Emma that years ago the guy used to take crime scene photos for the Cambridgeshire police, which is how he got a scoop before the rest of Fleet Street. Emma then observed "So the case made him? Like it made Olivia Greenwood." Hmmm.
He must have been tipped off by the local police I think, to turn up at the old crime scene with the dead girl's family to confront Emma - who else knew she'd gone there?

I enjoyed this too. What a ghastly American woman! And was Detective Greenwood played by Winsome from Inspector Banks?

I think the inmate who beat up Russell (?) In the exercise yard was Bulant from Count Arthur Strong. I'll see him in a whole new light on Friday!

Gripping , brilliant so far. Really enjoyed it.
Wondered about one of the blokes of the girl's family who turned up with the photographer at the burial site. Thought he might be the killer but them much was made of the jets flying over so wondered about that connection too. Probably more obvious when subtitles are on! "Jets flying over" "Jet engines"
