Kay Mellor...A definite plus from me.

I enjoyed this. I'm intrigued as to what happened with the 'dead' husband, Wilcox turning up saying he was pushed...I don't reckon he's dead though, maybe a fake death like the canoe man! And I said to my mom that Richardson's son was gay the first time I saw him! My gaydar was in overdrive, and I thought the woman at the memorial was a beard. I'll watch next week.

Tuned in late to the start of this to see Miranda Richardson putting her makeup on and conducting a telephone conversation while driving, inevitably having a bump which, equally inevitably, she blamed on the other driver before going in to her office and being constructively dismissed without warning ... at that point I switched off.

I watched this last night and rather enjoyed it. I usually like Kay Mellor stuff. The family sounded surprised when the minister at the funeral referred to the husband as having killed himself. You could be right about Canoe Man, prof.

I enjoyed the first episode.....but I also enjoyed the first episode of Love, Lies and Records which subsequently went downhill for me so I reserve judgement on this until the story and the characters have developed a bit more.
I assumed that was because nothing had been proved one way or the other regarding an accident or suicide at that stage (judging by what the son had just told his mother about the insurance policy) so they were shocked the minister had made that assumption.

Yes I was surprised nobody challenged the vicar for that.

My recording failed so I shall have to check it out on catch up. I hope there isn't an irritating character like Kate in this one as she sorely tried my patience in LL&R.

I think the Miranda Richardson character could easily become irritating.

Yes I was surprised nobody challenged the vicar for that. Yes! I'd have stood up and said that hasn't been established actually!!!! Especially as the insurance depends on it. I didn't think it was all that special but it may improve. No shock about the gay son, no shock about feckless son missing his deadline. I was surprised the editor seems to have no property of her own and is reluctant to sue for constructive dismissal. My lawyer son would be the first person I called in her position. I cannot stand the actor playing what we all assume is canoe man. I hope he doesn't reappear. On the whole I just didn't find it very amusing or heartwarming. I think KM has gone off the boil but I shall see if it improves now we have got through the establishing episode.

Well I couldn't take any more LL&R's nonsense after one episode, but I enjoyed this. Time will tell, but so far looking forward to next instalment.

I'm the other way round, I quite liked LL&R but am rather lukewarm about this - not as good as I hoped. I know each of the three "girlfriends" has her own big issue which is not leaving room to think much about the plight of the other two, but they're not coming across to me as old friends who care about each other. It's more like one of those "ensemble" dramas (if that's what they're called?) where the lives of various unconnected people somehow come to intersect each other. I'll stick with it I suppose.

I've stuck with it, and am happy to have done so because I think it's improved since the first episode - although pretty drastic things keep happening to them in quick succession!

What happened to the cat was totally unnecessary
