About 2 years ago decided to use a tablet only(in my old age ). Mine is an android(lenovo) and it was reset, not by me, recently so still getting over some minor problems but the predictive text when typing replies here,typing in a search bar inand in emails seems to be much worse than usual. Can anyone advise me on a simple way of cancelling this function ?

Normally, if you hold down the spacebar at the bottom of the keyboard, you should get a pop-up which gives you the option to pull up the keyboard settings. You should find the option to switch off predictive text, there.
It is often called Autocorrection.

Thanks for that tip. The autocorrect on my Amazon Fire tablet was completely out of control and decided I wanted to write something completely different half the time, so I have switched it off now. The ipad never carries on like that!

Are you using this site as an app or through a browser?As you can see my reply starts of below the quote in the white outlined box but I can't keep it from jumping into the white box,very annoying! However,to your query.....at the start of your new Forum I starred this site and got it onto my homescreen so it sits amongst all the other apps, I wouldn't know how to use it as an app but when I tap it to open I get the option of choosing from 3 browsers,usually its FF but only once so I guess I use it through a browser |

You do have to make sure to press enter a couple of times after the ' ' [/quote] I don't understand why your quote ended up outside the box, also your word( enter)doesn't show anywhere on my screen  I do see ( create post) I guess it's a small matter and not worth worrying about as I seldom reply nowadays.......will creep back into my cave  . Now off to try paterrys advice |

paterry but no go for the space bar,nothing  Godfrey,thanks but as I have to pay a £3 deposit then £38 for the solution,I can't cope with all that and will end up getting my friendly IT tech from their IT shop up the road......he knows me well by now but would rather pay him after all it was he who reset the tablet recently |

It is in your settings, but it will be a lot easier to ask someone face to face.
It is a simple fix.
(PS.Presumably you do know you can edit your posts? )
