Wow! Paul's mum had a fantastic voice!
"I don't really live life by tbe colour of my bucket" and
"You jammy little northern beggar!"
It makes me start to smile the moment it comes on. I love this pair!

Fabulous, funny and emotional programme. Probably the best on telly at the moment.
When Fleetwood Mac slowly and quietly crept in behind the two sitting along the bank I thought that this would be bliss . . magical music and the wonderful rippling water.
Then .. when Bob couldn't get up the bank to do the soup I was crying with laughter. I would guess the crew were laughing too as Paul suddenly realised that there was something going on behind him.
No whooping, no manic laughter tracks, no competition nothing but two very funny friends surrounded by beautiful countryside.
yes, what an ending!

One of the happiest programmes I have watched for ages. Bob and Paul seem to have a lovely natural connection.

One of the best episodes of a brilliant series. Bob's excitement at landing the huge fish - its no wonder his heart rate was up to 92 from a resting 60. Stunning scenery as well - and that cream tea!!!! But they had earned it.
Agree about Paul's mothers excellent singing voice - what a talent.

I had it in my head it was on at 8.30 (why? It's always been at 8 you stupid woman!) so I actually switched off after Mastermind and then found I was watching the last few minutes when I switched back on. That really made my day! Anyway, iPlayer to the rescue and I've just watched it while I had my breakfast. We spent many happy holidays in the Yorkshire Dales so it was so lovely to see Wensleydale in all its glory. I did enjoy the bit with the heart surveon in the pub: he is the sort of doctor I would feel able to put my trust in although I hope I never need to!
Can they get another series out of this format or would it be best to let it go whilst it is riding high? It has been such a joy to watch....and listen to: not only Bob and Paul's musings but has anyone else noticed the enjoyable background music? I will miss Gone Fishing.

I have been on and on at my best friend to watch this as I knew she would like it but she kept saying she doesn't like Mortimer or Whitehouse as performers and that watching fishing must be boring. Today she tells me she is going to download it because she has heard so many people talking about it so "maybe" she will try it. Arrrgh!!!!

You admit to yourself that you've enjoyed something immensely, when you realise how much you're going to miss it after the final part. Sadly, it was mentioned on the Points of View programme (very briefly) and it stated that there were no plans for more.
Hopefully, the producers might see the glowing reviews and decide to go for another series.

Well, you never know, they may well go for another series themselves. I saw Bob being interviewed and he was saying how they made and funded it themselves. They did all their own editing and kind of assumed it might be picked up by some small satellite channel and broadcast it tucked away late at night. They were astonished that BBC2 picked it up and broadcast during prime time.

I shall make a point of watching them all - I was late to it before.

Oh joy! A repeat run of series 1 (which I missed) begins on Wednesday 27November at 10.30, on BBC4. Hurray! I watched the episodes several times because they seemed to stay on I-Player longer than usual (ok, I confess, I got rather addicted! ) but I'll look forward to seeing them again
