Oh yes, I always call him Johnny Rich on Mustardland. It was odd, he was doing well at school with no apparent difficulties, fond of Eamonn when he was Rich. He came back as Johnny, family in Leeds never mentioned, always saying he can only do the practical work not theory, dyslexic (miraculously solved after one reading session with Tom). I hope all this lack of character consistency departs with Mr O'Connor.

Kate & Roy. Are we being signposted to a rekindling of their relationship?

Oh please, NOOOOOO. I agree it did sound like that but surely he wouldn't be so stupid would he? She was probably only being nice to him because he had helped her with the launch, like everyone else had to!

Yeah but it's Roy we are talking about. Never the sharpest knife in the drawer, epescially when it comes to matters of love. Kate is seeing 40 looming, she estranged from her chopildren in Africa & not getting on with her increasing Saffie-like daughter in the UK? Living off her parents & not daft enough to know she hasn't got the brain or the, ornament to run a successful business, in fact, to my ears, she is regressing back to the teenage Kate. After her fling with another man in SA she has returned and the eligible men of Borcestshire haven't exactly been beating a path to her door. Roy is a doormat as far as She is concerned so he could suit her purposes right now. Roy hasn't had a sexual partner since he was found out about Elizabeth so is probably up for it.

Did I miss the great moment, or are they still avoiding gender pronouns for Ann's 'Max'?
And as farcical as the prog has become at various times in its history, is the Beverley thing now not the epitome of the genre?

Pooh, I think you are right. I just assumed her ex was a man, but I shouldn't have of course, that really isn't very PC of me. Maxine maybe then?
Still think there is something not right about Kells (?). I can't put my finger on it but it just doesn't ring true. Mind you, a lot doesn't ring true in TA for me any more. I still haven't got entirely used to the new(ish) Tom or Pip and can always identify them.

I'm sure Max was referred to as 'he' yesterday.
When Carol was talking to Jill she said something like 'I put my foot in it when I asked about Max. He's seeing someone else.'

Yes, now you say it, I think she did. When Helen was seeing Gregg on the quiet and we heard snatched snippets of furtive phone calls, I wondered if the scripties had made her a lesbian but it was not to be.

I have never listened to the Archers ... would it be difficult to get into seeing as you don't see the characters but only hear their voices?

You can buy very useful little books of the Archers characters! That is what I did when I started listening about 12 years ago!!! Mind you I guess you could go to the webpage now but I didn't have a computer then. But I found it surprisingly easy to get into. Since then of course there have been a plethora of characters who all sound very similar (which is a frequent lament on Mustardland) so that could make it harder.

The evil BBC Empire replaced Dick Barton with the dreaded Archers.I've never forgiven them for that

I feel as though I have left it too late to start Oh, it's never too late to start. Mind, it's never too late to stick your head in a bucket of sileage, and that's not necessarily a recommendation, either...
