I imagine that the police will want to pursue the allegations of rape by Jess and Helen. If he's convicted then surely he would lose any right of access to Jack? I suppose it wouldn't stop him from turning up in later years – even if he goes to prison he won't stay there forever. What's the sentence for rape?
Getting to that point is another matter. Helen will I suppose now have to apply to have the court order giving Rob custody of Henry overturned, and as he isn't Rob's biological son that must surely carry some extra weight? But it won't happen overnight unless he's arrested immediately on the rape allegation. I'm sure you're right that Henry is going to be difficult, but when were things ever easy in Ambridge?

And Pat said Rob hasn't been punished for the terrible things he did to Helen.

I still listen but I am also on Mustardland so don't really post about it on here. Not enough time!

What's your moniker on Mustardland, Marion? I read the 'Discuss the Archers' thread occasionally but have never posted.
Rob is certainly being made to pay now, but they are rather over-egging the pudding, aren't they? He's making unpleasant remarks to anyone who crosses him. Not sure how realistic that is (as if any of it was realistic!). The fight at the Bull was good though.

I am Capricorn, a less than prolific poster though it has to be said. Just reading ML can take forever!
I enjoyed the fight in the Bull and at the cricket, but as you say it is a bit all or nothing isn't it. Johnny is really ticking me off! I don't think he would go from being Rob's devoted fan (sledging anyone?) to Helen's fiercest defender without some internal debate on what has happened. But of course we are missing all of that. But my biggest shock was that Helen actually bothered to go and see her acolyte.... sorry, friend, Kaz and actually talked about someone else's problems!!!!! And took some vegetables to Kaz's mother, albeit because she probably thought Mrs Kaz would not be feeding them properly unless guided by an Archer.....

Good outcome re visiting Jack yesterday, I thought, but didn't much like the way they got there. Surely Pat should refuse to have any conversation about 'Gideon'? She could have said there was no one of that name living there and insisted on Ursula calling him Jack? What will happen as Jack gets older? And she could have said that Rob must have known his operation date well in advance (as we know he did) so could have asked for alternative access that week with more notice. As it was it wasn't reasonable to arrange access at no notice, but instead they turned it into a confrontation, fuelling Rob's sense of outrage.
I really hope they sort this out soon. Justin needs to find out about the pub brawl and cricket contretemps, and withdraw the job offer – can't have someone as volatile and unhinged as this doing a managerial job. And Helen needs to make a complaint to the police as soon as her solicitor gets back from holiday. I don't really understand why the police haven't followed up the rape allegations made in court.

Personally I quite like the name Gideon so am always pleased to hear it. But only for that reason. And to be fair it was Ursula who asked as Rob said he wouldn't beg from them. I have a feeling they do not know how to get out of this plot to suit everyone. I wonder if she will be able to sway a jury on the rape charges. This the woman who was forever banging on about the MBS. And if they try to drag Jess into the case, well she was desperate to have him named as Ethan's father and, according to her own words, had hoped to get him back through the baby! Well a defence brief could slash her to ribbons on the stand! I was amazed this wasn't brought up at the trial to discredit Jess myself. I can only imagine Rob will have to be charged for Justin to have a change of heart. But his actions seem pretty much out of character to me, would he employ someone who has never managed an estate as an estate manager? ? Bonkers, the whole thing. As long as they don't bring back Charlie and his closet.

Well now! According to Adam, Ian's friends (me neither) have suggested he leave GG and find a job in Birmingham or beyond! OH NO!!!! But Jenny is sure he would never just abandon Helen. I squawked and dropped the F-bomb at that point I'm afraid. I hope he knows his needs come a poor second to anyone in the ARCHER clan!

I hope Ian doesn't leave Ambridge. He's one of the few male characters with a distinctive voice and character. I was sorry when Matt left for the same reason. I don't know what it is about Archers men but a lot of them are indistinguishable from each other, especially for people like me who dip in and out. Far too much focus on Adam last night – perhaps they[re trying to give them all something to do now that The Trial is over. They've got some work to do to get back on an even keel, haven't they?

I was jolly fed up when Tiger left. I really liked him. So many of them sound the same I only know them when they are addressed directly. Funnily enough the person who gets called his name most often is Toe Bee but I can recognise him very easily. The highlight in all this was last year's NYE party with all of the younger ones and I hadn't a clue who was there. Not a clue. I blame SOC for getting rid of so many distinctive voices (hello Will!) and using so many Tom clones. But a few more are creeping back in now he has gone, like Aaaaliiiice.

I was going to say it's descended into farce, but it was already there! Why on earth in those circumstances would they not automatically call the police? If only to prevent someone who is so clearly unstable from driving off into the wind and rain.
I'd forgotten about the whole Gideon name thing and so it seems has Rob since he was calling him and referring to him as Jack throughout yesterday, and I think the other day when he was talking to Henry at school.
How many more times do they have to say portentously that 'he has gone' until he actually has gone, I wonder? And I hope Justin gets some kind of come-uppance.

I'm sorry he's gone!!! Not because I liked Rob but because Timothy Watson acted him very well, he was ghastly to those super-smug Archers, and his voice was distinctive so you could tell who was speaking without him having to be name checked!
I felt it was a bit of a damp squib on Fnriday TBH. The dashing off was far too swiftly resolved and just letting him slink off was very odd. It seemed to me like a new editor trying to round off unwanted plot lines. I was very surprised she just charged off into the night in hot pursuit without calling anyone. She could have completely missed him; how fortuitous they all ended up in the same lane. Even if she didn't want to deal with 999 she could have rung Harrison. What I now dread is Pat forever wittering on about her brave and determined daughter, when we all know what Helen is really like!!!!
