I can just about buy that in the heat of the moment everything but pursuing Rob would have gone out of Helen's mind. But why not call even after she'd got Jack back? She knows how dangerous Rob can be. She knows he can disappear whilst plotting his revenge. Only a couple of weeks ago Rob was "gone forever", then the kidnap happened. And it's frankly extremely selfish. Jess didn't report what Rob had done to her, and Helen suffered the consequences. Has she learned from that? No. Now some other young woman could make the mistake of falling for his 'charms', but Helen's alright so nothing else matters.

Gosh, it's a long time since anyone posted in this thread!
I'm rather intrigued by the current Matt – Lilian – Justin storyline. We're clearly meant to think Justin mowed down Matt and he's not pleased that Matt is going to recover, though we don't know to what extent yet. Do we really think Justin is capable of murder, or attempted murder as it will be if Matt recognised him and recovers enough to name him? Anyway, if it was Justin who attacked him it's had exactly the opposite effect than the one he intended.
I was rather sorry that Matt appeared to be leaving the series again, as he's one of the few Ambridge men who sounds as if he might actually be a real person. It now looks as if he'll be around for a while, and Lilian's dilemma will continue for a while longer. Will she jilt Justin at the altar, I wonder, or will she not even get that far?

I love Matt! I don't want him to leave, in fact I was furious he went in the first place.

I used to read one of the dedicated Archers forums which went out of business, so to speak, with a rather dramatic announcement. I'm not interested enough in the minutiae of life in Ambridge to want to go in search of another.
I like Matt too and I think he and Lillian are made for each other. Simon Williams is a lovely fella but Justin really isn't, and I would like to see him brought down to size!

I'm not sure where we're going with this storyline. In addition to Justin, Adam seems rather jumpy and Brian's care is in for repairs. I suppose the idea is to generate lots of speculation about whodunnit: it might turn out to be a damp squid and just be a hit-and-run driver. With Burns of the Yard on the case it will inevitably come to a dead end (he never did solve the Mystery of the Missing Bunting, IIRC).

Was this dreamt up when the ex EE chap was still in charge? Because it has all the hallmarks of their favourite multi-suspect stories.
I think Justin has a very croaky voice in this which irritates me. He doesn't sound like that when he is The Chairman in EE (yet more cross fertilisation).
After his infamous question to Christine "what's that piece of paper with words written on it?", as all listeners chorused "a note!", I have lost faith in Harrison.

Mustardland is pretty much the old BBC forum revisited IMHO. I wasn't a member of it then but I read it and recognise a number of the names.

Just had a look and it's still closed – it was a Proboards board. Rather confusingly, were are two called Mustardland and one of them is closed. The other one is open though. I preferred the one that's now closed as it wasn't so aggressively yellow!
Yes, Hilda is Peggy's cat and everyone except Peggy hates her. She made her appearance after Brian ran over the old one whose name I forget.
I didn't know Brian's car was in for repairs – Hmmm. The thick plottens ... though why would Brian have it in for Matt? (Told you I don't follow it religiously.)

Now Shula is getting jumpy over Matt, and went missing for a while during the Hunt Ball. Hmm.
What has Matt got in those cases he is so keen to protect? Getting Diamond Lil to book him into Grey Gables in her name? Getting her to buy him a pay-as-you-go phone? I sense trouble, and if she's not careful he'll drag her down with him. Justin is well advised to steer clear (if you'll pardon the expression!)

Mmm, they are setting up a lot of red herrings, aren't they? How many more, I wonder.
On another note, I missed the introduction of Harrison to the cast. He does sound very like Alan the vicar who hasn't been heard of for months ...
I hope Justin stays in London. I'm fed up with him and his domineering behaviour. I quite expected Lillian to tell him to slink his hook, but I suppose she is still telling herself that she's going to live happily ever after with him.

Plus he has just left there so most of the staff will know him! I reckon the cases are stuffed full of cash. I was sure the whole racecourse thing was a Ponzi scheme but thought Hugo Thingy was behind it but,perhaps it was Matt. Either way, I don't like the way he is again becoming a nasty piece of work. Bring back Tiger! |

Does Matt have any idea about preparing for a long haul flight? Last week he was trashed. This week he is barely able to stand and is wracked with pain! He sounded tonight as if he had lost several teeth in that accident.
