Hmm.... I'm not sure why some on the internet have gone quite so nuts. Although I agree about Dame Judie's fur coat. That is odd. And the faces are not feline enough for me.
I think it could be good. It looks good. Very expensive as well. But as always it will be done to the acting cos we know the writing works, it's been in the West End since Adam was a lad.
But then again, Watership Down got trashed at Christmas cos the rabbits didn't look right so what do I know?

It looks good to me: and of course, there's the fabulous music and songs. I've already put in a request for the DVD for Christmas from my family!

As it comes out in the Cinema at Christmas....it’ll be a dodgy version. I got the trailer, couldn’t believe the negative views, and loved it. this came out a few days before the trailer, it’s very good...

The bit that I found interesting in that video was that Judi Dench was cast in the original London production of Cats (as Grizabella and Jennyanydots as I later found out), but had to withdraw because of injury. She was replaced by Elaine Page. Now she is playing Old Deuteronomy.

Yes, I remember that Judy Dench injured herself during rehearsals - twisted her ankle or something.

Andrew Lloyd has teamed up to write a new song for the forthcoming film adaptation with Taylor Swift. Swift’s involvement in the much-discussed live-action musical has already been a point of note: she will make a furry appearance in the film as the character of Bombalurina. But her involvement has apparently gone further, with Lloyd Webber telling the Daily Mail that she had written the lyrics to a new song, called Beautiful Ghosts, for the film. The song will feature in a performance by ballet dancer Francesca Hayward, who plays the feline character of Victoria, a role that has been expanded from the stage version to make it more central to the plot. Lloyd Webber told the newspaper the song would also be sung briefly by Dame Judy Dench, who plays Old Deuteronomy. It was reportedly written over a year ago. Swift will also perform her own version of the song over the end credits. Cats film: Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber 'collaborate on new song'

I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan but you cant fault the girl's work ethic!
She literally seems to work 365 days a year. Touring the world, writing new songs, going into the studio to record them, another new tour after, appearing at every conceivable awards show where she has received a nomination, making the rounds of chat shows.
And she always seems upbeat, still a kid in awe of her success. She never disappoints with a bad interview or makes it seem like she doesn't want to be there.
I give her total props for being a true professional.

Is the main dancer in this trailer, the white cat, Taylor Swift? To me it just looks like a woman in a leotard, not a cat at all really! It has no fur. Or is it supposed to be one of those horrible hairless cats? I think they are creepy. Sorry to any fans/owners! I shall watch it though as I like a good singalong.

I've seen Cats a couple of times and the manner of costume varies quite a bit. Some fully covered in fur. One wearing a waistcoat and cap, one dressed in leather like Elvis, others just in leotard.
I put it down to the amount of dancing required. The leotard cats doing most of the gymnastic dancing, the more fur covered and bulky costume cats doing most of the singing but not much in the way of dancing.
Or maybe the leotard cats are meant to be Siamese? or maybe kittens?

Been to see this on its debut showing, yesterday: in my humble opinion, it's the sort of film which people who like cats (the real ones) would enjoy, but maybe not other people. But what do I know?
We went prepared for anything: some of the reviews were dire. We had very much enjoyed in the past both the live stage version and the cinematic copy of it.
As it began, I sat waiting to hate it....... but no! From the 1st five minutes I was transfixed, charmed, beguiled, and anything else similar. The music is sublime, the costumes clever, the CGI ditto (their ears and tails move!) The actors are great, can't single one out, and the ballerina Franscesca somebody is so graceful and cat like. The Taylor Swift song is a wonderful addition.
I can't believe that many of the public won't find it as magical as we did: I predict it will be a huge success in spite of the critics, most of whom sound like cat haters who have totally missed the point.

Critics love to hate filmed stage musicals and fart joke comedies.
Yet the public love them.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell are laughing all the way to the bank knowing which popularity is more important.

I am looking forward to seeing it. I love Taylor Swift's new song from this show - in fact it's my favourite at the moment.

I hope you enjoy it, even if it's only half as much as I did. The best film I've seen this year!
