Definitely! It was so gripping. A brilliant programme.

It was an excellent series wasn't it? Far better and more involving than I was expecting and great performances, not forgetting Joe Absalom who did an excellent job as Halliwell. I don't think I've ever seen him quite like that before.
I'm glad she left the controlling pilot! And wasn't it a pity the two mothers could never speak to each other. I found that side of the story quite poignant.
Just as I was going to bed I noticed they were showing a documentary about this case, fronted by Sir Trevor. I'm sure it must be on the ITV hub.

I don't know if it is now but it wasn't earlier this morning. I couldn't record it because I already had two other recordings set for the same time but wasn't bothered because I thought I could watch it on the hub....but it wasn't there. . However, all wasn't lost because there was a documentary made by the ITN reporter who Steve Fulcher got into trouble for briefing. It details how ITN reported the case from beginning to end, has film clips from the time and interviews with Karen Godden plus Martin Freeman and Imelda Staunton. It gave me the background I was looking for.

That documentary fronted by Trevor McDonald still isn't on the ITV hub, but it's a year old and is on youtube:
I thought this series was very good too.

Thanks very much gm. I will watch it on YouTube. I had noticed it was a repeat and did wonder if that was why it wasn't available on the hub.

Did she leave the controlling pilot then? I thought she said the opposite, that she new he wasn't perfect but she just couldn't be alone.
Great series though. I thought that John Thompson at the beginning was a bit irrelevant, but I suppose it showed that Steve didn't have the support he would normally expect, and that the Police Force was so wary of another scandal.
(Fans of Kate Ashfield may remember her best as Liz, the (ex)girlfriend in Shaun of the Dead.)

Yes she did, you see them all piling into a car and she was saying that she was leaving while he was away at work (presumably at several thousand feet somewhere, so no chance of popping in).

Oh I don't remember that.
That speech at the wedding was awful wasn't it?
