Bit off topic perhaps, but for film themes that are so perfect you can't imagine them being anything else, I'd go for the themes of Jaws, Psycho, the James Bond theme.

From On what a lovely war, not the theme song, but a scene with a song that I felt relevant for today.

I agree goodhelenstar. All of those are instantly recognizable and identifiable with the films. That James Bond surf guitar then the horns...the shrill of Psycho and the ominous slow build of Jaws.

I often find myself liking the music more than the film. My kids loved these films, having first been them on television. I would buy the video for them, but I would get the music for myself; I always found it soothing and relaxing. I then found this on YouTube, maybe somebody on the old POV boards told me about it, I can't remember. I now have most of the film music, and videos of three concerts. This one is, for me, the best of the concerts conducted by the composer of some of the best film music of all time.

I don't think I have ever heard of those films Bob. Is that Japanese Anime? That is one of those genres I have heard of but never seen any films of.

Yes, these are anime, but they are not the sort of anime that you might be used to. They are animated films, some for younger children, some for older, I would say that they are, for the most part, better than anything produced by Disney; they were properly introduced to the West by Pixar. One of them, Spirited Away, so an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Another of their animations, Grave of the Fireflies was described by Roger Ebert, when he first saw it as one of the greatest war films he had ever seen. People are known to watch it once, and not be able to watch it again, it is so sad, but a powerful message against war.
