There are some great theme songs to films that have become staples of pop culture.
My favourites would change quite a bit week to week - sparked by a memory when I hear a song on the radio - but to get the ball rolling.
The Bond films have always had great songs, but my all time fave is "The Spy Who Loved Me."
James Bond is usually presented as a bed hopping, one-night-stand womanizer. But the lyrics to this song suggest he is capable of being tender and having true feelings for a woman.

Well he did fall in love and get married. Not that it lasted very long.

Who knew the phrase "drive-by shooting" went back as far as 1969!!!!!

It's quite sad, actually. And a bit of a shock if you don't know it's coming.

I know I have seen that film, its the only with George Lanzenby. I just don't recall Diana Rigg being shot.
Usually one of the locals will run a Bond marathon a time or two a year. I will definitely re-watch.

Another lovely film theme song - The Valley of the Dolls. I wonder if this is the first time a song has been nominated for an Oscar that had lyrics with a subtext about trying to get off drugs. The film is also bittersweet because the lovely Sharon Tate was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for most promising newcomer and less than two years later was murdered by the Manson family.

For Bond, I love the Shirley Bassey songs, but Peter Serafinowicz had ruined Goldfinger for me! How it might have been.
My fave is probably Live and Let Die, it's that Bam Bam Bam in it and the softness of the opening, love it.
Also The Breakfast Club
Not sure it's the theme song, but You're The Best Around from The Karate Kid

All good choices professorbooboo
Love Shirley Bassey in general and Goldfinger especially.
Heard Shirley Bassey doing Moonraker on the radio yesterday. Not one of the better offerings though.

Some might argue that Kenny Loggin's "Danger Zone" was the theme song for "Top Gun" But for me, this was the signature song in the film. Terri Nunn...I'm still smitten

....GL got a bad press for his acting in this film....very impressive in this scene though..... I dont think Sean Connery could have bettered it.....

Shura no Hana from Shurayukihime. It inspired Quentin Tarantino when he made Kill Bill.
