Dating Is Murder – the third of Hallmark’s Hailey Dean Mysteries movie series – will receive its UK premiere on Channel 5 on Sunday March 1st at 1:35pm.
Based on Nancy Grace’s series of novels, Hailey Dean Mysteries follows Hailey Dean (Kellie Martin), a former prosecutor who has found a new way to help others when she becomes a therapist. Despite having left the DAs office, she still finds herself herself invested in seeking justice and discovering the truth.
In Dating Is Murder when a string of unsolved disappearances all tie to the same popular dating app, prosecutor-turned-therapist Hailey Dean is on the case. With the help of detectives Danny Morgan (Giacomo Baessato) and Fincher Garland (Viv Leacock) – and even her adventure-adverse boyfriend Jonas (Matthew MacCaull) – Hailey uses her uncanny ability to read people and acute observation skills to investigate the case.
After receiving little help from the dating app’s creators Wade (Toby Levins) and Jessica (Kieran Sequoia), Hailey goes undercover to meet with app users, finding herself in precarious situations along the way. When she suspects that the dating app has put her friend Sabrina (Emily Holmes) in danger, Hailey must risk everything to solve the case and save her friend.

Episodes 1 and 2, Murder with love and Deadly Estate, are on this Saturday from 1.50 so maybe they are showing the whole series as they did with Jesse Stone.
Channel 5 February 22.

The Hallmark Channel here in the US has a whole slew of these original series that feature a young woman of one profession (real-estate agent, chef, antique shop owner, garage sale enthusiast, soccer mom) that finds herself stumbling upon a seemingly endless stream of murders to solve, even though she seems to live in a quiet little community. Not unlike a Jessica Fletcher. Hallmark also produces an impressive amount of original films, most of which are light romance or romcoms, and many have a Christmas theme. In fact, the Hallmark movie channel is famous (or infamous depending on your viewpoint) for airing Christmas themed films year round. Which is great if you enjoy a light romantic Christmas film in July.

I have just realised that these films star the woman who ran that mystery novel shop in a series of films ages ago. Was it Mystery Woman? That was notable for her peculiar sidekick/sales assistant who was in the CIA, knew everyone in the world of espionage it seemed and spoke whilst barely opening his mouth.

Yes that gentleman is Clarence Williams III who played 'Linc' in the groundbreaking "Mod Squad" series back in the late 60s. 3 ex cons, Black Panther militant, white hippie woman, white displaced Ivy League man, hired by the police to be undercover agents.
He also played Prince's abusive father in Purple Rain.
I like Kellie Martin. Prior to become a Hallmark house player, she was in ER for a time and in her teens played in the family series "Life Goes On" along with Patti Lupone.
That series was fairly light family fare but also featured the issues of her teenage brother having Downs syndrome and her boyfriend had AIDs.

Nice to see that Kellie Martin has acquired some wrinkles since I saw her in the Mystery Books thing, and hasn't chosen the scalpel/botox route like so many actresses.

I thought EXACTLY the same thing whilst watching the first duo of films. A woman who looks her age! I looked her up and she is 44. I thought to myself "well done for not using Botox, Kellie". I am always amazed when they have a heroine of around 30/35 in these films and the actress playing her mother does not look a day older and has no wrinkles whatsoever.

I watched today's 2 episodes, and I just wish that the makeup people would realise that when a woman gets to a certain age, dark lipstick is sometimes not a good look.
For some bizarre reason, known only to C5's scheduler, it is back on Saturday next week.

Thinking about it, it is quite possible that they were not given the rights to show them via a streaming service.

Wouldn't surprise me. And also typical of C5 to say watch it over there when it's not over there. Their catch up service is rubbish when you are trying to find a specific thing.
