I had poached cod and bread and butter for my evening meal and my brother had fish and chips! I shallow fry fish in lard for him. I never use sunflower oil in cooking.

Todays dinner was a chicken salad (mixed lettuce, Picolo tomatoes, onion, cucumber, boiled eggs, yellow pepper, pickled beetroot) with jacket potatoes and cheese

Lunch here today is crispbread with cheese-spread and sliced tomato on. Being Friday, tonight's meal will be oven baked Fish and Chips.

New experience for me for lunch today - Chicken Tikka Masala Lasagne courtesy of Iceland. Not something I would usually buy, as I prefer my food to be freshly prepared, but the lovely young couple from Bradford who have been in next door's holiday let for a couple of weeks went home yesterday, and kindly gave me the stuff left in their fridge. Wasn't a great deal of taste, just a bit hot. The sauce was OK, but the texture was a bit soggy and uninteresting. Don't think I shall be converting to ready meals ........

Oh dear. It doesn't sound very nice to be honest. Not to say that a ready made lasagne or chiken curry can't be perfectly edible as a standby meal but these weird "fusion" dishes that Iceland sell are not generally a hit. It's a bit like the Chinese flavoured pizza. I love Chinese duck, like the occasional piazza but don't think they are a winning combo.
I've just been growing UFOs (Unidentified Frozen Objects) and really old stuff (2014) out of the freezer & came across some kippers that are not old but I had forgotten about so I made some kipper pate for tomorrow's lunch.

A Sainsbury's prawn mayo sandwich I know you have been poorly Malyndi so I guess you don't have much of an appetite at the moment. Hope you enjoy your sandwich. It's pretty incredible to think that pre packed sandwichedps didnt exit past a late I've 35 years ago when M&S introduced them. You could buy takeaway sandwiches from some cafes etc of course but the supermarket/garage/corner shop sarnie hadn't been thought of!

Peanut Cornetto? Never heard of them - my dad likes Cornettos but only the original ones!
You're correctimundo about the appetite, Dee, am having to force myself to eat anything as I am also an ex=anorexic so that particular 'head demon' has been re-activated by recent events (I'm not looking for sympathy or anything, just saying it's really boring) But I've just been to Tesco Express - so lucky to have a store within easy walking distance, as you say, we didn't have that in times gone by! And bought some things that will hopefully tempt me...a jar of beetroot in sweet malt vinegar, for instance, and a pot of spiced cauliflower florets (Tesco's own) as I need to get some veggies into me..
Strewth, do you remember how we were scared to mention brand names on BBC boards?

Make sure you have plenty of fluids Mal & something for protein. Could you manage a milky drink or maybe an egg or two? If not today, maybe in the morning. If you have had food issues in the past it must be even more difficult to find something to tempt you when you are out of sorts.
The peanut Cornettos are fairy new I think. I bought a pack of 4 in Tesco.

I did LOL at your Unidentified Freezer Objects - who among us can say they know all that lurks in the depths..
Am good on the fluid side, thanks, I have been drinking tea, coffee, water, smoothies and Frijj milkshakes. I did see some Scotch eggs at Tesco that part of me wanted but the other part said there were too many calories (need the d'oh smiley what we had on the Beeb boards) Any road up, I'll survive, I always do, love reading and posting about normal stuff like food...
