{SPOILER:Click to Show} Grantchester has found its new Vicar. Tom Brittney (Outlander, Call the Midwife) has been set as the new co-lead in the ITV period drama. He replaces original star James Norton, who is exiting during the upcoming fourth season.

Apparently "he's a man of God with the devil inside of him." Sounds like he could be interesting. I loved James Norton in the role so this does sound like he'll be a good replacement as far as I'm concerned. I do like that inner turmoil, wrestling with the Jekyll and Hyde, good vs bad, God vs the devil side of a character.

Ooh, I say! He looks rather nice and the character sounds good. I shall certainly miss James Norton, but this photo gives me hope of still enjoying the programme.

James Norton was always destined for greater things so it’s no surprise but it’s a shame.

Good start to the series I thought - and I like it being on Fridays. Seems we've been introduced to the person who Sidney will leave for - I don't blame him!

Something else I missed on the schedules. I"m not keen on ITV catch-up so I guess I'll have to start next week.

Very enjoyable episode. Looks like Geordie doesn't like the idea of his wife working does it.

Geordie does seem to prefer The Way Things Used To Be, judging by his 'opening speech'!
I also enjoyed this first episode in (Series 4?) Sidney's housekeeper doesn't change, does she

Bye bye Sidney, don't keep in touch.. My, he has become an irritating character! Not remotely sorry he's gone, I hope the series will pick up with the introduction of his replacement One question, apart from the obvious 'does he have any idea about how tough it will be in the US'...... how is going to earn his living??

Yes, bye bye Sidney, but I'll miss him. I doubt his replacement will be so flawed and therefore so interesting.
I don't like to nit pick (on reflection, actually I do!), but there was a historical howler tonight. When Geordie was looking at the books of the club, a bit after 20 minutes in, there were entries for £10 shown as 10 00 in two columns. This is decimal, and decimal currency wasn't introduced here until more than a decade after the episode was set. It should have been shown in 3 columns, £ s d, as 10 0 0. It may seem trivial to some, but it was a serious error for a production styled as a period drama.

I spotted that too, but wasn't sure and wondered if it was just a straight tenner for each girl. Having worked in an STI Clinic for a number of years, £10 seems a bit pricey for a prostitute at that time. It didn't look like the classiest place they were in.

That’s Sidney gone then. Wonder what the new one will be like
