Been to see Bridget Jones's Baby this week. Very funny. Think you would enjoy it most if you've seen the two previous films. Sad in parts, surprisingly. Well acted by Renee Zellweger. 9/10 from me! My daughter has just been to see this and she loved it. Just as good as the previous she reckoned.

Deepwater Horizon - took a while to get going, but when the Oil hit the Rig, it was edge of the seat to the end.8/10 Another good one I saw at the weekend..... The Girl with All the Gifts, a very clever 'zombie' film, set here - which is only letdown by a very cheesy ending [last 30 secs]. 7/10

I am currently watching Men, Women & Children - it's about how social media is so intertwined with everybody's lives, secrets, images they are presenting, parents strictly controlling, or being far too liberal, etc. It's really good, and thought-provoking.

The Girl on the Train....well made stylish thriller - shame the story wasn't that good; by the numbers, same old same old - just wished the 'Girl' on the Train, had stayed on it.
Inferno...not the best of the three, but still fun to watch - Tom sleepwalking through it, Felicity was good.... rest of the cast, very poor.

'In the Heart of the Sea' watched this on Sky last night more of a prequel than a remake enjoyed it but it could upset some with the blood and blubber scenes.

Just back from seeing Mr Doctor..... Doctor Strange - and it was one of the best Marvel films I have ever seen [Guardians of the Galaxy being the best] - mystical and funny with the best CGI I've seen in a long time - And not being a fan of Ben C, I was pleasantly surprise, he was very good - not as good as Tilda [amazing] and Chiwetel but still, surprised. 8/10

Honestly while it was not the worst film around in terms of overhype it's right up there (or down there) with 'Jagged Edge'. It's an OK story but blimey (in the film) they really liked to signpost the direction it was all going (which may be as a consequence of the way it was translated from book to film). Nice "twist" at the end. Also I'm struggling to see the fuss surrounding the book. Anyone?

The Light Between Oceans - I just didn't like it or get it, and I can cry at the drop of a hat (Joy selling all her mops got me) boring, depressing and very loud....relentless waves crashing, winds, and don't get me on the music, a lot of mumbling to and about 30 minutes too long. Only positive - the child was great, at all ages.

Arrival, not sure if it deserves a 4/10 the story is just crazy or an 8/10 it's visually stunning, not bad acting - someone was walking out of the screen at the end and he said someone is going have to explain that to me. The Accountant - very good. Pre Harry film tomorrow.

It's going to be easier to wait till it comes out on Sky Cinema or similar.

Has anybody seen A street cat named Bob yet? I'm hoping it'll be out on DVD before too long.

Not seen it, but it's only just come out, so it'll be a while before it is out on dvd. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ As for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - I didn't like it...CGI took centre stage, with no chance for the story to get out, unlike all the creatures getting out of that case - couldn't feel for any of the characters too, Eddie was just.... Eddie - but I did like the mind reading Sister. It all looked amazing, there was just no soul.4/10 major one {Spoiler} Johnny Depp appears at the end....noooooo!

I saw Fantastic Beasts this week, and I enjoyed it.
The CG effects were wonderful - the film couldn't have been made a few years ago, without them. Eddie Redmayne was on screen for most of it and managed to make his character someone you would root for.
A good try by the film makers/producers to draw in the USA audience, as it's set mainly in New York, in the 1920s.
Take your hankie for the weepy ending! 9/10 from me - would like to watch it again.

My son was taken to see Fantastic Beasts at the weekend, by his elder sister. He didn't like it either, I'm afraid! - but then fantasy-type stuff doesn't seem to interest him. He did enjoy The BFG though (I saw that with him), and I am enjoying reading it out to him now as a bedtime book.
