I'd still like to see it for myself but maybe one for DVD rather than the cinema as it's £9 at my local!

Maybe I will see it at the cinema, I do like a musical and on the big screen is even better and I'm not sure I've seen cinemascope before, is that just very very widescreen? I read a review in another magazine today that gave it 5stars as well.

I saw it this week - went with an open mind, as a friend said "As long as you bear in mind that time's gone on since West Side Story and Oklahoma, it's not bad".
We enjoyed it: it has a jolly, if rather long opening sequence, there is plenty of music and singing, the story is well told, and I was mightily impressed by the abilities, both singing, dancing and acting, of the talented lead played by Emma Stone. A star is born! I'm sure she will win awards, even if the film doesn't.
A nine out of ten from me!

The sound wasn't great in the cinema we went to, the first few minutes of dialogue was often lost amongst the music in the background. Otherwise, worth seeing in a cinema.

I'll have a think about seeing it. I've only got so much money and I really want to see Jackie and Trainspotting 2, although a review on digispy said it wasn't as good as the first, so I'll have to pick carefully! Lol

I'm hoping to see Jackie, too. Can only say that La La Land will be bound to be shown on TV at Christmas in a year or so, although there are just a couple of instances of swearing which would have to be bleeped out for family viewing.

The films come out on DVD pretty quickly now so I could always rent from my library save waiting too long. I've just read a 5* review for Trainspotting so I think I might see that.

I saw Jackie and while it's a slow film, it was interesting. Portman is so good as Jackie, she's got this slow husky voice of Jackie and she plays the shock so well.
The biggest surprise was the end credits when the name Max Casella appeared. I recognised the name from Doogie Howser, but couldn't place him in the film and realised he played Jack Valenti (the guy Bobby tells to f**k off) OMG, he looks different. Neil Patrick Harris, although older, is still recognisable as the kid from Doogie Howser but Casellas not. This is him back then
And now

Just watched Film2017, I think they're having a different present each week, this week was Charlie Brooker. They reviewed T2, which I'll try and see next week and also Christine with Rebecca Hall and Michael C Hall. This is a good film. It's about a US local News reporter who shot herself live on tv in the 1970s. Its a shocking story and even more so when you know its based on real life but I found it gripping as well.
