Here's a general summary of the story:
Collision is a five-part British television drama serial, which debuted on ITV in November 2009. It tells the story of a group of strangers whose lives intertwine following a devastating car crash. The crash opens a number of startling revelations as stories of everything from government cover-ups and smuggling, to embezzlement and murder start to unravel.

Ah! So it's not an Acorn original then. I didn't see it on ITV. But then I rarely watch that channel and haven't for years.

I very rarely watch ITV. If there is anything I want to watch from ITV I normally do it on catch-up, or record it and edit out the adverts.

Blood.
It is the first time that I have seriously noticed the music. At times it seems to have completely taken over from the script in telling the story Cat Hogan who returns to West Meath upon her mother who had had an accident at home and suddenly died. Blood is about old secrets, older betrayals, mind games and the lies family tell each other.
I am really not sure about what I want to do. If it is too annoying, I'll probably just go to the end, and see what happens.

I remember Collision, but had to remind myself of the plot. The concept drew on a serial from 1978, Accident. The plot is different but the concept, of various people being somewhere they shouldn't have been at the time of the accident and lots of cans of worms being opened as their personal stories evolve, is the same.
I had to look it up partly because it stars Douglas Henshall, who seems to have cornered the market in playing police detectives at varying levels of seniority but always carrying out the same degree of detection!
Blood is an Irish drama starring the lovely Adrian Dunbar. I really enjoyed the first series and found the way the family members behaved, and the denouement, completely convincing. There is a second series that doesn't feature Cat nearly as much and is the poorer for it. I don't remember noticing the music but I know BGM annoys a lot of people. I hope it doesn't put you off.

Normally background music doesn't bother me; it is just the way that they use it seems to be trying to push a point, too much. I like the idea behind the story, in itself, it is just that they overuse the music.

Anyway, I am glad I have decided to keep on watching; and am glad that I have. It is getting much better.

Lost Letter Mysteries.
I was expecting to hate this as I'm not good with soppy usually. But it's just quirky and funny enough to add a little sour to the sweet.

Whitstable Pearl
I don't have Acorn myself (yet) but I did get to watch and enjoy the first 2 episodes of this new series, based on books by Julie Wassmer and made by the same production company as Marcella. Kerry Godliman plays Pearl, Frances Barber her mother and Howard Charles (Porthos in The Musketeers) DCI McGuire. Other familiar names can be seen guesting, e.g. Cathy Tyson. Episodes released "linearly" on Mondays and I'll be trying to take in some more.
Pearl runs a seafood restaurant but is no stranger to detective work, and after an initial dust-up with real detective McGuire he starts to need her extensive local knowledge in his investigations. Of course they are both single...

I did think of watching this. Is it gory or cosy?

The books are in the cosy genre, don’t know about the series but I suspect cosy.

I shall give it a go then. Not in the right headspace for gory after this last year.

I saw a big article about this Whitstable Pearl series but don’t have Acorn so I bought the first book to try. Goodness knows when I’ll get round to it.
