Found this new streaming service because it promotes a YT channel by a fashion historian that I subscribe to, Bernadette Banner.
It's got a lot of original programming that hasn't been shown elsewhere. I'm not sure yet if I want to continue to pay for it once the 30 day trial is up but I'll decide at the end of the month.
If you want to try it, use the code Bernadette for the free trial. This means she will get a little money for her channel.

I wasn't aware Acorn TV had arrived here. It started as a US streaming service specialising in imported English language productions, mainly from the UK, Ireland & Australia. Also didn't know they'd made many of their own productions - they only started doing that in the last couple of years and the only ones I was aware of were Agatha Raisin, which they took over from Sky, and London Kills.

They've done quite a few more. One good one is Queens of Mystery. One young police officer with 3 crime-writing aunts. Also The Sounds and Dead Still. Those two I haven't watched yet. And Straight Forward and Sando.
They've also got a very odd French version of Agatha Christie stories.

You guys seem to be able to watch so much stuff. I can't wait to retire (sadly, that about 10 years away yet) and I know you're not actually retired Miranda so no reflection on you.

No offence taken! This year I've watched more TV than ever before for several reasons. Not having enough money to go anywhere cos not working, having nowhere to go cos of lockdown, and the recent crappy weather meaning can't go out anyway! LOL!
Another reason I watch a lot of different services is not having an ariel. People do get used to just watching what is on FTA. Often just leaving something on because it's there, not because they actively want to watch it. But I have to find something to watch on the TV or tablet so have gone down unexpected routes and found all sorts of stuff. YT is full of TV programmes and can be a treasure trove.

Acorn TV is available as an extra channel with Amazon Prime at £4.99 a month after the first month free (basically the same as getting it as a standalone here: Acorn TVWhichever way, it does look interesting.

And so, Having looked at all my options, Acorn does seem to be the best, and so I am now on the trial period.

I feel that I am really spoiled for choice. I don't know where to start. Yes, there are a few had ones, like the BBC's Agatha Christie stuff, but there is a lot more good stuff. I can catch up on the Foyle's war episodes that I seemed to have missed, which makes me really happy.

So, I have now finished catching up on all the Foyle's War episodes that I missed. It was really a pity that they treated it the way that they did after season 5. Yes, they ended up with three more seasons, but it jars.

Now I am watching "Collision" written by Foyle's War writer Anthony Horowitz. So far, I have got through the first two episodes and I am really liking it. Basically, it is the story of an accident investigation, with a lot of intertwining stories, and how they are resolved.

One thing I liked about Collision was that it wasn't completely linear, and that the different bits didn't get in the way of each other. It was allowed to all fit together with a proper story, and a proper closure for what they wanted to say.
