Other observations: The other professor reminds me of Sandra Oh's character in Killing Eve, and who the heck makes declarations of love and then swiftly moves in with the other person within days of meeting them??!

It happens. Circumstances sometimes force it.

I enjoyed this. I didnt really take to the heroine whom I found rather self-regarding, and I got the result completely wrong but I still enjoyed it and would watch a second series.

I thought John Gordon Sinclair was a revelation in this. I've only ever seen him being twinkly sparkling Scottish lovable, and this was completely different! Molly Windsor was unimpressive, but that is probably because her character was a pain in the neck. Martin Compston impressed me.
I assume a second series might feature the same forensic team but a completely new case - not much point in continuing with this one as it was well and truly solved.

Yes, Alibi have confirmed that S2 will be set in Dundee, involving the same SIFA team who will this time be investigating a series of bombings, and will again be written by Amelia Bullmore. However no cast members have been confirmed yet as far as I know, so there could be some changes to team members.

I agree with you on all points here. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the name of JGS in the credits.

I thought the plot strand of Kathy's friend, who just happened to turn up, go off, come back again and then play a pivotal role in the exhumation, was pretty weak. Surely no one would be allowed near the grave who wasn't home office certified? I've seen Silent Witness, I know these things! So I'd be happy if she either joined the team properly or else sailed off into the sunset.
I would like the story of Prof Sarah and DI Neil to be explored further. I'm sure there was a scene in the story, when we saw the different people asleep, where Sarah was in bed with someone who wasn't part of the story. I assumed that was her husband or partner – it certainly wasn't Neil!

I thought the scenes between them were well played. Not overstating the attraction but making it obvious there's a spark there.

I have just started watching it again -- I watched it when it was on Alibi -- and am surprised that I hadn't noticed that much of it hadn't been filmed in Dundee. This time round, it is so patently obvious.

It didn't seem so to me. They were too nervous and silly around each other

And as I noted above, there was a scene of all the parties asleep in bed, and Sarah was with someone who I don't think featured in the drama, and definitely wasn't Neil.

Found it! Opening sequence of episode 4. Early morning when all the characters are still in bed asleep. Sara's bloke has short hair and a beard, and I'd say is younger than Neil. I don't recognise him from the rest of the drama. We were not given any detail at all about her home life – cutting room floor perhaps?

With all the other stuff going on, it was quite nice not to have her marital angst on top.
