I watched about 10 mins and found it really silly. Although it may be I just wasn't in the right mood for it.

It is a bit silly and so are the books, but if you take it as a bit of a parody it's ok. Everytime the music started playing I was trying to work out the pop tune so I put the subtitles on and it told you.

Out of curiosity I watched a bit of it, and is definitely not for me. There is a market for this sort of programme, but not here.

I read the books a long time ago and enjoyed them. I’m up to episode 4 of the series and like how colourful and quite quirky it is. The colour blind casting is interesting and gives the whole production a different look.
Beverley - I was trying to work out what one of the tunes reminded me of, but I didn’t realise they were actually pop songs. I’ll have to pay closer attention.
On a shallow note, the hero is definitely swoon-worthy. 😍

Watched the first 2 episodes and I'm quite enjoying it. A pretty exaggerated view of the upper reaches of Regency society (I assume - or is it?) - but light, amusing and easy to watch.

Absolute nonsense but I can't help enjoying it. The Duke being black confused me for a few minutes as I thought it was part of the story. How did his family come to be Dukes etc. Why is he accepted. But I was thinking, and as soon as I switched that off I was happy. 'Colour blind' casting doesn't bother me unless it is real people we know were a different skin tone to portrayed. But please, I am sure Cowper would be pronounced Cooper as with the poet.

It was mentioned by Lady Danbury that black people were not treated as equally until the King married a black woman. A wholly unnecessary point as until then I was very happy with the casting but had noted that apart from one girl (Marina) all of the others were white. Not quite so colour blind as colour where we want it.
Still good to see though.

I also noticed that Beverley, and found it irritating. I think colour blind casting is great in the way it brings fresh actors to the fore, but to suggest in this way that it’s historical reality is misleading.
I did read somewhere, though, that there was some speculation that Queen Charlotte did have some black ancestry. I don’t know how likely that is, but I did think it was interesting. If I can find the article, I’ll post it.

Interesting but not really conclusive. As the article says if cartoonists of the time weren't aware and using it, then it's not likely that it was a noticeable feature.

I binged the last 6 episodes, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Roll on series 2 (if there is one - probably will be).

If it follows the books, series 2 will focus on the eldest brother, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.
I also greatly enjoyed it and I’ve heard that they will continue, but we won’t see it for at least a year. I would imagine that trying to film it under COVID rules is going to be a nightmare.
