Thanks Marion. That explains why the RB coverage has been so rubbish the first 2 days. Hopefully it will improve as the days go on and we will be able to watch the whole of something. And maybe they will stop giving out spoilers as well.

I saw an article in the ST just now and there have been many complaints over the coverage (or lack thereof?). Dan Walker has explained that under the deal with Discovery which provides wall to wall coverage on its own platforms, the BBC can only air two live sports at a time. I would also imagine if one of those sports is deemed to be a minority sport by those in charge and there is something deemed more exciting, then the minority sport will be ditched PDQ, I donโt know if that means you could be sure of watching a complete competition, say diving, if you waited and watched it on iPlayer. I suspected there was a reason for the threadbare coverage compared to Rio where if I recall correctly there were around 10 red button streams. Dissappointing. Sadly one thing hasn't changed. Those two clowns in the swimming commentary box.๐

I really do not think Mother and I should watch Tai Kwan Doe. It leads to shouts of
"kick him in the head!"
from both of us!
Silver for our lad. He fought well but the other chap - couple of years younger - was simply better on the day.

Enjoyed the skateboarding but why on earth do the participants have no head protection? Bad enough that their knees and elbows are without padding, but they are surely at risk from head injuries? Every one seemed to have a fall at some point.
You just know that lots of kids are going to be heading to the skate parks and refusing to wear a cycling helmet etc. Cue visits to A&E.

According to this thread, there are less injuries in the street skating and they learn to fall quite early on. It's park skating where they do the really big tricks high in the air where you will find them wearing the protection.

Thanks Miranda. It just looked wrong - these are adults. Landing heavily on an arm or ankle would cause a fracture. But as you say, they may be used to landing badly like jockeys. I expect the presenters will be asked to clarify this before the day is out.

Did the GB men and women make the Team Finals in the gymnastics? They did. And we have a couple in the all round individual final in each and likewise in some of the individual apparatus finals. Canโt remember the details though.

Its the climbing one I want to see. Against the clock apparently...
The problem with the commentators is they cannot stand silence - so jabber away when they have nothing new to tell us.
Must admit I am enjoying the coverage so far. The doubles badminton was played at such a pace! Wow! And I saw some equestrian dressage this afternoon too.
