You're right, Netz. I used it a lot too, and it didn't show the whole individual post. Phew! Glad I wasn't imagining it! (I've nearly made enough posts to have a seat at the table - exciting! ) Will save you a chair!

I was looking to see if there is a spell check option and Proboards said they will not add it as it would be a heavy load to the page. They point out that how fast the forum pages load depends on how many features are loaded into it. Not many people know that... [author's note:- I may be wrong?]

You are right. Plain text/html is very quick, as soon as you start adding images, javascript, flash, php, an so on you slow things down. Most browsers have spell checking functionality added as appropriate to their own locale, so It isn't really necessary. It is better to have the functionality client side, where they can even add their own words to the dictionary locally, and make their own choices on which spellings to use.
It is a bit like what happened when Windows (graphic operating systems) took over from DOS (command line operating systems). A lot more things had to be done in the background.

I'm thinking of opening a calendar to use for new shows and new series. We can put the name of the show on the date it starts to make them easy to find.
What do you think?

Can we still put them in the channel board/thread? It would be easier to put a bit of show info there whereas a calendar would just be date, channel and show name (I assume). And then the thread is already set up. Unless you don't want threads to be started until people have something to say about the actual programme cos they could cause a bit of a clutter?

That's what I'm wondering. I wasn't aware that a Calendar event had to have a thread attached. I just wanted somewhere to put the start dates.
Hmm...... I don't know. It could make the place really cluttered.

Oh I didn't mean a thread for every calendar event. But just as a for instance, I put a thread up for The Secret Agent. Could I still do that even if I put the start date on the calendar? Because not everyone might know what it was without the sentence or two of explanation and would have to look it up. Whereas if it was something we all know, like I'm A Celeb, the start date could just go on the calendar and a thread opened as and when someone wants to say something.
And would everyone look at the calendar or would they prefer to look at the channel board/threads?
Banged on a bit there. Sorry!

Ah. I see what you mean. Unfortunately the calendar doesn't work that way. You have to start a thread in order put on an event. There seems to be no way around that. Which is going to either make the TV boards too cluttered or make a lot of work for the Mods.
Don't think it's worth it. I shall see if there is a plug-in available that more along the lines I was originally looking for.

I like the idea of having a calendar for when shows are starting - good to see things at a glance as I might not always go into the individual channel sub-boards for things.
I'll be out of the country for 8 weeks mid-Sept, so it'll be great to know when some things are coming up (Poldark, Humans, Homeland, for starters!) so I can ask someone at home to series-link them for me whilst I'm away (if they haven't already started before I go!).

Poldark starts on 4 September according to digispy.

Ooh, thanks, marion. That's one I'll be able to series-link myself then!

Hmmmmm..... I've found a plugin and installed it on the Test Board but now I'm not sure where the damn thing is!

Could we not just have a thread somewhere headed 'Series start dates'?

We could!
My original idea was that we could look at the calendar and see a list of what programmes were starting that week or month or whatever. And then if anyone did watch them, we could have a thread.
Just made it easier to see at a glance.
