Something new. We have just installed some security software to help prevent any images posted here being copied. You won't know it's there as it works in the background. Non-members that try to copy from here will now find it much more difficult. We can't guarantee that it won't be possible as there are some very cleaver and determined people out there. If you have any real concerns regards your posted images I advise you to post only small low resolution images that are not a lot of use to anyone looking for free images. Yes it's worth remembering that this isn't a photo site so it doesn't have the facilities or security of a photo site. It is very easy to get a great picture pinched, it's happened to me. So now I only upload small size images of my sort of second level photos that I'm not too worried about.

What images are you referring to out of interest? Because I have just had a mess about and could download/copy any image as I normally would.

Maybe if regarding photos in the hobby bit is to make that only viewable to members only?

I think Lumix means there is protection against casual browsers, rather than members, taking images.

Not bothered, just wanted to try it out as I never knew there was a way to block it.

I have just logged out and tried the right click on images and get the copyright message and the right click menu does not appear where you would normally select copy image. It's not perfect, as the determined will find ways around this. It does stop non-members from having easy access to your images. If we can't trust our own members then that's pretty poor. Also should this amount to an image being stolen then in a court case you can state that copyright was displayed on the image and therefore the thief can't claim it was there for free use else where.

When I'm on my tablet, it's just normal to download or copy to new tab. Nothing about copyright whether logged in or not. I will check when I'm on my PC. Just interested to see what safeguards could be put in place as my company has a website. Not sure where a court case would be involved.

I'm very interested in your results. It's very difficult to test software like this as Internet browsers work differently to each other. The software installed here was created by one of Proboards top coders. I have used this on my own forum for quite a while and never had any reports of it not working. Please keep me informed.

I could be wrong but I know you guys have a graphic design/art forum? If I have the right one I can download or copy any picture from there. If I have the wrong, or even right forum please delete the picture.

Well done. You have proved your point. This software offers no protection to tablet users. May I ask what tablet you use and the operating system installed. I will then inform the coders over on Proboards support and ask them to investigate why this is possible.
Out of curiosity I have tried this from my Samsung tablet and I get the copyright message blocking my attempt to download.

It's a Nexus 7 with the standard android operating system. The reason I was interested is because I have never come across any copyrighted images anywhere on the internet.

Just tried from a laptop and the copyright thing does come up, there is a pretty easy way around it but it does offer some protection I suppose. My search continues, someone lifted all our images and used on their website. One was even a picture of our trades people, it was cost prohibitive to take legal action. As in it was not worth it.

Apparently, and I was not aware of this before, the software in question does have problems recognizing some image formats. Primarily it was intended for photos only. So best treat it as a bit of protection and not as full protection. The software is currently being developed and the version we have is due for updates when ready.
There are plenty of programmes that will put a copyright message within the image data. This would only serve to prove ownership of the image. They can still be copied and used probably without the author's knowledge.
I think the developers of the software we use are on the right lines in trying to disable the copy functions on a computer. If they succeed then they will have a winner.

I have seen those with the copyright message but we didn't want those across the images. To be honest I have given up worrying about people stealing the images as there's not much that can be done, so it's pretty pointless me worrying about it. Whatever the coders do, you can always do a print screen and open it in paint. So there will always be ways around it.
