They're all so nervous, everyone is losing it on the basics - timing.
No idea who's going to win this.

SO close. All had some great bakes, and some not so great bakes.
Felt sorry for Crystelle with the unbaked item.

And the winner is....
....Guiseppe!
Well done, a worthy winner. Over the entire series he has been excellent. And although not everything was perfect today he is a deserving champ.
Love hearing 'what they did next' over the closing credits.

So I guess they chose Giuseppe on the basis of the whole series? Because he’s a worthy winner overall, but the final was not his best work.

They final was too close to call as they all had disasters.
And we have to remember that Prue and Paul are doing the actual tasting.
A great series and lovely to see the pics of them all meeting up in the weeks that followed.

It was very close. Some have said that he shouldn't have won on a panna cotta because it's not baking but that is why he made the brandy snaps to go with it. And if a panna cotta is not baking, neither are all the mousses and cheesecake things they make earlier on. If it's cold and has to set, it's cooking not baking basically, but they do it all the way through, so no complaints from me. He made it hard for himself makin a large carrot cake instead of separate layers but they said it tasted lovely and the jam filling was divine. I don't think he won unfairly, everyone made mistakes due to nerves and they do have to think about who is consistently the best baker. Chigs just came on so fast towards the end and did himself proud, Chrystelle was amazing and she'll kick herself or simply laugh that she didn't cook her focaccia. We got no hint of that in the preceding countdown, it was just there a totally uncooked bread. Poor love.

Was it that vast amount of oil that did for Crystelle’s focaccia? It looked awash!
I was quite surprised by the result because I thought it would be Crystelle, until we got to the aforementioned raw focaccia. Chigs did very well apart from the Belgian buns. I know Giuseppe’s were overdone, but I’ve certainly seen them on sale that colour. Crystelle’s looked very good.
A common theme this series has been not allowing enough time for things to cool down so they can be decorated. Easy to say I know.
Well, Giuseppe was my favourite throughout so I am glad he won. A very nice series overall with some lovely people.

I think cooling time is something the judges constantly remind them about. They're always putting their bakes in the fridge, even the freezer.

A worthy winner I thought. Has produced some great bakes throughout the series.
I liked Chigs' playing cards and overall design of his showstopper.
I wonder what Jürgen would have made for the showstopper. Something with a trombone perhaps.
Did I miss it but did they explain what jobs each of the finalist had?

I’ve just been watching the repeat on 4seven because I missed some of the programme yesterday evening.. Am I the only person who hopes Noel will have moved on by the next series? He’s been a pain all through the series with his banal remarks but his antics last night were the worst. His comment to Giuseppe after he’d found the oven wasn’t on - ‘let me tell you something about baking, it needs heat, preferably from an oven’ - deserved a punch on the nose

It must have been played up though because he still had time to finish.

He did say at one point that there were some items he wouldn’t have time to bake.

Yes, I agree about Noel. Jurgen made his view clear about his intervention when he was interrupted by him in a previous episode.

I think the bakers should be given 4.5 hours for the task, plus an additional 20minutes for interruptions by Noel and Matt.

Of course what we don't ever see, is the bakers having a coffee while they wait for something to cook. They have limitless ingredients, all the gadgets to speed things up, staff on hand to wash the dirty dishes and clean ones waiting whenever they need them.
Everything looks in disarray when they are told there are 5 minutes left and miraculously everything is tidy by the time they have to bring their bakes up to be judged.
Clearly there is enough time, it's just the nerves, the being on TV, the inevitable something going wrong that hampers them - I always feel more aggrieved that they're expected to make things like ice cream in a red hot tent.
