Yes I do think I read somewhere that Kate Miskin is due to appear. I didn’t much like her in the books IIRC.

She was played in the Roy Marsden version by three different people: Penny Downie in A Taste for Death, Lizzy McInnery in Original Sin and Sarah Winman in A Certain Justice. Curious that so many people played the part since it would have been difficult to establish her personality for someone who was an important part of the story. She was also played in the Martin Shaw version by Tilly Blackwood in The Murder Room.

It was quite a sombre episode yesterday. But I am still enjoying it.

I dozed off slightly at one point and may have missed the first five minutes after the first ad break. Hopefully I can still work it all out.

I think you'll catch up quite well, it's incredibly slow paced.

You know how it is, you close your eyes in the ad break just for a second…..

Oh I do, but I think you could have nipped to the kitchen and made cheese on toast and still caught up. It's very dour.

I started watching half way through and caught up! But then I have read the books.

I had to watch on My5. Dear God! The only way I could get episode 3 to open was to open episode 2 and FF to the bit where it says next episode coming in X seconds. Trying to open episode 3 I had to suffer so many adverts before discovering it had opened episode 4 yet again that I lost about half an hour yesterday. Not happy! Luckily I did enjoy it.

I'm hoping this is the episode where he gets rid of his awful sidekick.

The trouble is that there were men like that in the 70s. I worked with several of them - not all at once though.

Oh I agree, it is a realistic portrayal of how men behaved, but he didn't wait to see that boys mother did he and he missed a vital clue with the coin the boy had.

I’ve fallen asleep in every first episode so far and had to rely on the ‘Previously…’ at the beginning of the second.
I know he isn’t meant to be exactly dynamic, but must he be quite so tedious?
