Oh yes, I'd watch it if she got her own series.

Finished it. {SPOILER:Click to Show} I choose to believe Helen’s call came in time to save him. 😀

A few more thoughts: {SPOILER:Click to Show} Immediately after I watched this final, I watched the conclusion of Rules of the Game. Interestingly, the final message of that story was “People Don’t Change” - which (of course) is the crux of The Tourist.
Did Lana lie or at least shade the truth? Has Elliott really changed? Maybe, maybe not. We have no context to judge. I think the ambiguity made for an intriguing ending. I can’t decide if I want that resolved with a sequel. I would definitely watch Helen in another story.

I don't know if I want it resolved either, TBH. But yeah, I would watch Helen again. For me, she was the most interesting character in it. {SPOILER:Click to Show} With Elliot, I think because he couldn't remember who he was, he went back to acting his own natural self. And his only need was to find out who he was and who was trying to kill him. And TBF, he wasn't a nice bloke, really. He was prepared to kill that police officer in the restaurant if he had to. So his own needs did come before anyone else's. But he didn't really think about it until he found out just how far he was prepared to go to do what he needed to do. Obviously he would have built up to Lena over a space of time. But the sociopathic tendencies that led up to what he did may well have been there to start with. I dunno. Who knows what we are capable of doing when we feel we have no choice?

Series 2 is coming soon as part of the Beeb's Christmas 2023 schedule. Apparently it continues where S1 left off and Jamie Dornan & Danielle Macdonald (Helen the cop) are still in it, but it's set in Ireland rather than Australia.

Gosh I can’t believe I didn’t post anything in this! Anyhoo, it’s over now but there was a big twist at the end when we saw that Elliott was in fact a special agent on general assignment! Whose agent we don’t know as the file was burning at the time. Now why this agency didn’t try to track their man down! Also, Jamie Dorian tried a bit of ballet at the end and wasn’t that excruciating either. I don’t know if he ever studied dance.
I quite enjoyed the second series but not as much as the first. They have left the door open with this agent teaser though.
One bad but if casting was Elliott’s son who looked old enough to be his brother and, when he was sent to Irish Language school for safety, looked the oldest student in town yet I think he was supposed to have just left school. I also preferred the ex boyfriend Ethan this series as he was much more comedic, and a new man or so he thinks. (You see Helen, mansplaining is when a man…)

Yes, I loved the comedic bits too. Overall, no, not as good as the first series (why did they even make episode 5? What was THAT all about). But on the whole, still worth watching. I rather liked the ballet moves at the end!

Well these brothers do like to go a bit trippy now and again I think! Hence episode 5, which did at least make me swear quite loudly when I realised she was still in a coma, 😂😂.
