It is like Joe McElderry being called a Geordie when he is from South Shields and is a Sand dancer! Not sure how to spell it. Are there two Ds?

Watched the last 10 minutes of the second episode. He is a deeply unpleasant man, I won’t watch more (though I think Monica Dolan is excellent in anything she does)

And yes, he is a deeply nasty, selfish man. I really can't believe his wife was sucked into it despite her misgivings. Weak, both of them. Although, once he was declared dead, I can understand that they may have genuinely thought they could have got away with it. but utterly astonishing that they got as far as they did!

I've read it and he's not convincing anyone. Blackhall is a dip in the road away from Hartlepool. You can't just throw in a village name in an attempt to be vague. We know where it is. And that would be nowhere near Newcastle. I'm not sure but it's got to be about 50 miles away.

Ok, fair enough, Beverley. I'm no expert on accents, but Glasgow and Edinburgh are less than 50 miles apart and their accents differ greatly. I think Britain has more accents than any other language worldwide, or so I've read.

They do and that's the point. He could have just relocated the drama to somewhere his cast could manage, maybe Whitley Bay if they are Geordies or Clacton if they were from down south. He must have known he'd get this stick from locals, the accent has a distinctive sound to it. Think Geoff Stelling without the smooth!!
It's not a documentary after all. I don't think either of them have given interviews for a long time. I remember her saying she was really surprised at the length of her sentence. 6 years I think - so 3 years served probably, but she'd have done several months on remand. I think I read, that she spends a lot of time with one son and the other not so much (that might be geography), but none of them ever see the father.

Well, I'm not surprised really. He was despicably selfish. And she was, well, she could have easily handed him over if she felt strongly enough, and she clearly didn't. Very, very sad for their boys though.

The father is now living in somewhere like Indonesia with his second wife who is much younger than him! Good riddance I reckon.

To go back to accents, it can make a difference. I was watching something set in France the other day. Brother and sister born in Provence, grew up together and never moved away. She sounds like she's from Sarf Lunnun and he's a Brummie! It threw me out of the story every time one of them opened their mouth. And the rest of the cast are posh English. Not a French accent to be heard.

I wonder if they got paid for this or whether it is one of the sons. I think one has helped on a book or something.
I know we could all be taken in by a longstanding partner that we trust or feel under pressure to go along with something but there was no point until they were caught that she said anything to anyone. She had lots of opportunities to tell someone, even hint to someone. As much as she says he controlled everything, you can just walk. She spent hours and days on her own. I can only think the money was too tempting.

Seems to be her version and I do wonder how 'led' she really was. Also did the sons really know nothing? Perhaps the last episode will challenge and question a bit, which would be welcome.

We know people can be coerced by manipulative partners and, if this version of the story is to be believed (and we don't know if that's so), then Anne was certainly coerced by her husband who was certainly manipulative. There is a documentary tomorrow night about the case which I hope may shed some light on it all.

We had a viewing of another bungalow which was very nice but on a private estate which was awkward to access. It also had a septic tank for the sewerage which didn’t appeal! We had one in our previous house and prefer mains.
We have put in an offer for the one we saw yesterday. Now we just wait and see.
