We were drawn into it as initially we thought it might be over extended. There seemed to be several errors in his planning and why couldn't the wife had gained Panamanian citizenship then married him again under his new name? Will watch the 'what really happened' version tonight with interest.
The touching scene where she held her grandson was very well acted . The focus on not wanting to be lonely was also telling but then again she did have two sons.
We also liked the background music and for once could hear most of the words spoken. We were not too bothered about the accents.

My take from the documentary is that neither of them came across as portrayed in the series. John Darwin, whilst certainly an arrogant man I think, wasn't the almost cartoonish villain as played by Eddie Marsan and Anne didn't strike me as the meek mouse-like woman who had me feeling sorry for her as the series progressed. It has been a gripping story to watch though

Well the jury weren't convinced by that portrayal as she got a longer sentence than him as she was the one who carried out the fraud.
Neither of them got massive sentences - about 6 years, out in about 3.
She is apparently not happy that she has been 'discovered' in her village but she is writing a book (proceeds to charity).
