And I think the cycling should not have seats so close to the barrier. A buffer zone would help stop spectators getting hurt

P. G. Stickler sounds like a character in a Wodehouse novel

I enjoyed the women’s all round gymnastics yesterday. I know Alice Kinsella was disappointed, and actually appeared distraught but she had won a team gold!
Re the cycling, I didn’t think the velodrome could be dodgy because it is a prime site, but was there a lot of bad riding? I didn’t see very much of it so don’t know what the commentators had to say. I know they have said before that you cannot easily get out of the way if there is trouble. But surely it is not common for a bike to spin off into the crowd is it? I would expect this to be perhaps the first time ever! Because otherwise if you got seriously hurt then the venue must be liable, I’d have thought.
Edit. According to Sir Chris Hoy it has happened perhaps half a dozen times in 20 years. He is calling for ice hockey style screens, or they could keep those two rows at the front empty.

I was watching it late last night and it cut off before the end! I missed the last rotation. Who won?

Australian Georgia Godwin followed by our Ondine, then Canadian Emma.
Thoroughly enjoyed the men’s floor individual just now. Really high difficulty. I liked the Canadian chap, he’s one to watch as well as ours of course. I agreed with Christine that most of them would not be out of place in the Worlds whereas some of the women’s routines yesterday, although enjoyable to watch, were a bit below that standard.
And now we have an endless wait for a medal ceremony! Get on with it please!!

In the break they are showing next start time as 14.09 BST and 13.09 UTC. I’ve never heard of that! Had to Google it, 😂.

Yes, but I think there is some difference in meaning. I’d just never seen those initials before.
Felix Dolci undermarked on rings I think. A nice afternoon though. More tomorrow and then the diving starts.

The Home Nations are doing really well.
I love watching the men on the rings but it makes my arms ache just looking!

Thought I would treat myself to a Perry the Bull mascot and there were quite a few sizes and prices on E-Bay. 25cm ones cost upwards of £30 (bidding on going). Out of curiosity I searched on line and found the official site selling that size for £20 + £3.99 delivery.
Wow - why are people bidding madly on E-Bay when you can buy them direct?

Laura Kenny has won another gold! Well done to her. I didn’t realise until today that the horrendous year she referred to included a miscarriage last November and a subsequent ectopic pregnancy. She also said she was very much affected by the horror crash so she did well didn’t she? I laughed when Clare referred to “another stream of consciousness interview” from Laura. They can just ask one question and stand back for about five minutes, yet her husband is very quiet isn’t he?

Opposites attract as they say marion. I was also delighted to see her win again.
She and her husband DO have a child, don't they?
