How does Rob Parker still have a job? Is it just that people know that at some point he is going to shoot his mouth off on some controversial issue? He seems to have lost a few jobs earlier in his career over his mouth.

Bobby Douglas may have been my favorite ever Bears quarterback, though overall he was pretty horrible in some ways. He played in the Butkus/Sayers era (and was one reason why the team was bad).
But it wasn't from lack of effort or talent.
He was just one of those great college quarterbacks who simply couldn't grasp the complexity of the NFL game.
They media used to like to say he was dumb as a box of rocks and couldn't spell cat if you gave him the c and the t.
But as you can see from these highlights he jokes that he himself sometimes just didn't get it so he tried to make something out of nothing.
And he was a terrific runner and had one of the strongest arms ever. He just sometimes didn't know where he was throwing the ball.
And he got his helmet knocked off more than any player I ever saw.

My favourite Bears QB is Jim MacMahon. Fierce and with an arm that could throw a ball like a bullet from a gun. Again, not the nicest person but part of a team that made me fall in love with American Football.

He was awesome and one of the few players that would stand-up to Ditka when Ditka got up himself after the 85 super bowl and became an egomaniac.
Sadly I hear Jimmy Mac is having early stages of concussion dementia and is a bit poorly.

I just Wikkied him and he's not well, is he? Although that neck treatment he had seems to have helped. I hope he doesn't die young.

Super bowl XX? I was in south Mississippi at the time, on the Gulf Coast. Watched it on the television with a few friends. I didn't know much about the sport at the time, so it might have been wasted on me.

That was the one!
Over here it was a big thing. The NFL was FTA on Channel 4. The Bears had been over doing promotions so were on the TV and met a lot of people. They had William Perry who was basically a monster truck in a man suit. And Walter Peyton who was magical to watch. The reason a lot of Brits my age are Bears fans.

OMG! The Monsters are BACK! Just watched the highlights of the defense performance and that was amazing! HA HA!
Now I just need to find some highlights of the offence and the TDs and I will have a good idea of the game......

Found them! Still have my doubts on Trebisky but it was a good performance by the offense.

Trubisky had 3 touchdown passes to Taylor Gabriel in the span of 7 minutes. But looked very shaky the other 53 minutes including the head scratching interception he threw at the 2 yard line when he had Allen Robinson wide open for an easy TD and another earlier overthrow of Robinson in the end zone.
But thank goodness for the defense as Miranda said the monsters are back.
Had Trubisky not thrown another end zone interception game 1 we would be 3-0.
Up next, the Vikings come calling on Sunday!

Would never want the Bears to get Brady.
But I WOULD like to see them bring in a proven veteran quarterback next year.
I think they purposely have Trubisky backed up with nobodies Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray, so he never has to worry about being benched if he plays poorly. I think coach Nagy is concerned about his lack of confidence already and doesn't want him looking over his shoulder.
I think that is the wrong approach.
If they brought in a proven veteran (like if they had laid out the money to bring in someone like Nick Foles who was shopping himself around this summer before signing with the Jags) then he would be challenged more to improve AND the team would have a viable alternative to put in if he was playing poorly and give themselves a better chance to win.
It would be a shame to waste this defense with a low level offense.

That is very true! Plus wouldn't a proven QB be more of a help to Trubisky? Advice and a shoulder to cry on if needed. Assuming it works that way, obviously.
