I was intending to watch it last night but haven’t used the Firestick for weeks and it seems to be dead. Perhaps it needs new batteries.

Had to change the batteries in my Firestick remote after about a year - it does seem to use some juice.
I've watched 3 episodes of The Crown series 2 so far. It is very good. My daughter says she binge-watched all 10 in a single day as soon as it was released, ending at 1.30 am.

We’ve changed the batteries GM but it’s still as dead as a dodo.

Have you tried disconnecting the firestick itself from everything it's connected to, turning off the TV, waiting at least 30 seconds, then putting it all back together and switching on again? - something that worked for me in the past.
I've watched 5 episodes of The Crown S2 now. This series is especially varied, each episode has a somewhat different tone and theme from the previous one so it really keeps your interest.

Thanks I’ll try that when I have enough time.

Have watched all of this series and although I enjoyed it ,it did raise a lot of questions . I don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it yet, but I am concerned about how realistic it is particularly with the Prince Phillip character. My mother always said he was a womaniser , how she knew I’ll never know unless there was stuff in the press at the time! His role as a good father is debatable. His treatment of Charles was dreadful sending him to Gordonstoun when according to the flashbacks , he himself didn’t have a great time there. Also practically threatening the Queen that he could make things awkward for the Crown if he did not get his own way over this. Loved his comments about Charles and Anne being the ‘wrong way round’ ie Charles being sensitive and Anne liking the rough and tumble. Princes Margaret episodes were sad, I just about remember her wedding to Tony Armstrong Jones. I always thought of him as a quiet type of man, I was obviously VERY young at the time and didn’t read the newspaper! Interested to read that there will be another series and that many of the main actors will be replaced by older actors, it is thought that would be better than trying to ‘age’ the existing actors. I wonder how up to date future series’ will go?

I believe Olivia Coleman will be playing HM in the next series, big shoes to fill as Claire Foy is brilliant, her voice alone is uncannily like the real thing. I feel the same about PP, he’s portrayed as petulant and resentful, didn’t he know what he was getting into when he married? I was told by my mother that he was a ladies man and had affairs with various actresses but that can only have been based on stories in the press at the time.

Just started to watch this series. I enjoyed episode 1 although not sure I found it as compelling as many did.
But I'll stick with it - the cast are excellent and the costume detail sublime.

I watched Season 1 with mother over Christmas as my sister had bought her the box set. I found it surprisingly good! (Mother has now given me the box set as she “can’t be bothered with these dvd thingies”) I had to promise not to tell my sister. Mother likes these things to watch once, but only once. However I will happily watch season 2 should I find it somewhere.

Enjoyed episode 2 very much. Some of it is laughable - the idea that the worlds media were breaking the story of the King's death before Elizabeth had been told.....
How had they got the news - twitter? Everything was completely controlled by the palace and 10 Downing Street.
But it adds to the general drama and the cast are excellent, Aileen Atkins Queen Mary in particular. She has just bowed almost to the floor to her Grand daughter.
On one hand they were women - the mother, the wife and the daughters - who had lost a loved one. And on the other they were royalty and had to act accordingly.
Made me think - had Edward and Wallis been accepted we would still have the present Queen - she just would not have gained the role until the late 70s - giving her more time to be a wife and mother.

I always feel we had a lucky escape with the abdication, although it was before my time I think he would have been a disaster as King and he did the country a massive favour by allowing us to have a wonderful Monarch for so long.

I've been watching The Affair and got to the last episode of season 2 and it wouldn't play😯 so rather than skip it and move to season 3 I decided to finally watch this until I can get that final episode. And it's great. Historical dramas do cost a bit but this is dropping in money. I've told my mom about it as I think she might enjoy it. The acting is very good and Claire Foy is amazing. I'm intrigued to how Olivia Colman will play the role and whether it'll be as good. I've watched the entire 1st season over Friday and Saturday and can't imagine anyone else other than Foy in the role.
Right, back to The Affair season 3 (and that pesky last episode) and then back to Season 2 of the crown.

Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret. Ben Daniels as Lord Snowden They seem to be releasing pictures a few at a time. I reckon Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles and Jason Watkins as Harold Wilson will be next.
