The announcer did say that there will be a Christmas special and another series next year but it's good to know there'll be another one after that too.

Intriguing, my youngest at uni in Aberdeen has a friend from Shetland who has just signed on to be an extra for filming of CTM in Lewis. Specifically in some restored 'bothies' and that area!
Discuss potential plots here!
Christmas break for a couple of characters in Scotland is my theory, with traditional hogmanay.

Filming has now started on the ninth series of BBC One’s hit period drama Call The Midwife.
This comes after production recently wrapped on this year’s Christmas special.

Well what did we think?. I liked the change of location but I was convinced one of them would decide to stay.

And Peter Perfect wasn't in it, so that was an added bonus! I didn't think it would work as it seemed an artificial change, but actually thought it did.

Hmmmm... I can think of one place I like to be kissed but I certainly wouldn't rub Deep Heat on it......

I’ve recorded it so I can watch it with my retired nurse friend back up in Scotland

Well what did we think?. I liked the change of location but I was convinced one of them would decide to stay. To be honest I thought it was way below the usual Call the Midwife standard and I really didn't enjoy it. The story seemed contrived, the Scottish characters were stereotypes, the dialogue was stilted and it was too long. The scenery was gorgeous though! I hope the coming series stays in Poplar and that Mother Mildred doesn't feature too much. I can't stand Miriam Margoyles and the same goes for the character. Sorry!!!

You are not alone in disliking both MM and her character!

I couldn't see a lot of point in them being there of they weren't going to stay and can't for a minute see why the Scottish Health Board (or whatever it was then) would even get in touch with them.
I liked the scenery and things and felt it was very lame that one kerfufle over Christmas decorations would chase them away.
It seemed like they were only there a few days as there was no concept of time passing.

I'm not on my own then. It just felt as though the people behind the programme had thought, " What can we do to move the story out of Poplar for a change? " and not been able to come up with anything even half way plausible so they contrived a lame plot to shoe horn the characters into somewhere with beautiful scenery. It was made worse by being stretched out over 90 minutes. The Christmas Special hasn't been that long before has it?

They went to a missionary, l think in Africa, for a previous special, probably 90 minutes as well.
Don't see it really matters,it is a feel-good drama not a documentary.
